How many VPPs away from Supernova?

Talking Poker 11-01-10 02:23 PM

A lot. I'm at 45k, so I need 55k more. Gonna have to move up in stakes or really start putting in the hours soon.

Shrewd 11-14-10 10:18 PM

TP....you never cease to amaze me!

GL my friend!

Not sure if this helps or not, but in the latest update, you can add up to 3 betting buttons. For example - preflop, you can have a default button to raise 2.5x, 3x, pot. And post flop, those can be changed to be 65% pot, 80% pot, all in.

Under options > Bet Slider Options in the lobby.

Talking Poker 11-17-10 12:56 AM

Yeah, thanks. I've got that pretty much taken care of using TableNinja, which puts in default bets for me, and then I just increase/decrease with the controller as necessary. That's actually a lot faster for me than clicking buttons on the screen would be.

Talking Poker 11-17-10 12:59 AM

Update: Still playing low limits on my own dime, but for the past couple of weeks, I've been short stacking, which I had never done before in my entire life... I have to say, I'm actually liking it. It's not nearly the same game as playing deep stacked, but once you get the ranges down and stats on your opponents, it's relatively simple to play.

I hit 50k VPPS today, so still need another 50k by the end of the year. Yikes. Definitely going to have to move up soon, but want to make sure I'm still winning (or at least breaking even) before I do.

thrash1294 11-22-10 05:45 PM

I have been short stacking rush poker .:)

Talking Poker 11-27-10 11:23 PM

That's a minimum 40 BB buy in though, right? That's a lot trickier than playing at Stars 20-50 BB tables.

thrash1294 12-03-10 04:03 PM

Yes sir 40 bbs. It seems that my profit is rakeback due to high volitility from donks like me but it is a nice change from playing sngs altough my roi is 15%

Talking Poker 12-26-10 01:50 AM

I'm sitting at 83kish VPPs now with less than one week to go until 2011. I've been playing $1/2 NL since Wednesday and pretty much breaking even (it's pretty swongy shortstacking - I started up $1k on the first day, but gave that back the next). I feel pretty comfortable at the tables though, so it should just be a matter of putting in the hours.

Unfortunately, I've only been getting around .35 VPPs per hand at this level (.42 is the number I was hoping for), so 17k more VPPs = almost 49,000 more hands. That's close to 40 hours I'm going to need to put in to get to SuperNova. That's certainly not the end of the world or anything, but I am not going to want to be playing upwards of 50 hour weeks next year, so hopefully the games loosen up a bit, or I'm going to have to move to 6 max or something (which I would like to do anyway, TBH).

I feel like my game has a decent foundation now, but obv will be looking to tweak things and improve all year. If things go well, I'd like to move up and play less hours while still accomplishing my VPP goals.

At this level, I'd need to play roughly 3 million hands to make SNE next year. Man that's a lot of hands.

omahilo 12-26-10 08:16 AM

really interesting... I hope you do this I want to see how it goes, I love playing poker but I dont know if I could play 24 tables for 10hrs a day... good luck I wish u the best.

Talking Poker 12-28-10 02:04 AM

Passed 90k VPPs today... I intend to reach 100k on Thursday and take Friday off from poker, getting "real life" things sorted as best I can before my 2011 begins...

jdiana86 12-28-10 06:28 PM

havet read the whole thread and dont know the details but i heard something about there being a vpp multiplier going into effect next year...don't know if they will up the number of vpp's for each level

Talking Poker 12-30-10 10:46 PM

Everything is laid out pretty clearly on their website, and the multipliers haven't changed:

Most excellent!

Among other benefits, good luck in some of those high prize pool freerolls.

Talking Poker 12-31-10 12:17 AM

I'm not sure I will play them, to be honest... I need to figure out the value and if it's worth my time.

Let's see, according to the email I received tonight:

Talking Poker 01-01-11 11:26 PM

It's progressive... Now that I am starting 2011 at SN, I get 3.5 FPP per VPP and every 250,000 FPP = $4000 cash. So, you get those at a steady pace all year. 1 million VPP = 3.5 million FPP = $56k. Only make it half way, and you still get half... $28k.

The other rewards grow progressively. First, there are the Stellar rewards which add up to $1200 for the first 100,000 VPPs:

Yearly VPP: VIP Stellar Reward: Cumulative VIP Stellar Rewards:
750 $10 $10
1,500 $10 $20
2,250 $10 $30
3,000 $10 $40
4,000 $10 $50
5,000 $50 $100
10,000 $50 $150
15,000 $50 $200
20,000 $50 $250
25,000 $50 $300
30,000 $50 $350
35,000 $50 $400
40,000 $50 $450
45,000 $50 $500
50,000 $100 $600
60,000 $100 $700
70,000 $100 $800
80,000 $100 $900
90,000 $100 $1,000
100,000 $200 $1,200

Then come the bigger milestone bonuses for every additional 100,000 VPPs:
$2,600 at 200,000 VPP
$2,800 at 300,000 VPP
$3,000 at 400,000 VPP
$3,200 at 500,000 VPP
$3,600 at 600,000 VPP
$3,800 at 700,000 VPP
$4,200 at 800,000 VPP
($24,400 in bonuses to this point)

And finally:
$20,000 at 1,000,000 VPPs + a $5200 WCOOP Main Event Seat
($49,600 through here)

So, with the FPP money, that's $105,600 in cash bonuses for reaching SNE. Making it halfway would be $40,800 - still respectable, but it's definitely weighted toward the back end. Of course, by playing less tables/hours/stakes, you could probably earn more (lose less?) at the tables, so the difference may not be as big as it seems when you factor in the money you win.lose at the tables to figure out your true bottom line.

It actually continues beyond that for the sickest of the sickos, but I will definitely be done at 1 million VPPs. For fun though, here is the rest:
$9,200 at 1,250,000 VPPs
$9,200 at 1,500,000 VPPs
$9,200 at 1,750,000 VPPs
$19,200 at 2,000,000 VPPs
$9,200 at 2,250,000 VPPs
$9,200 at 2,500,000 VPPs
$9,200 at 2,750,000 VPPs
$19,200 at 3,000,000 VPPs
