March Madness

I had Butler, Vanderbilt, and BYU yesterday for 2-0-1 (yay for pointless layups to end the game). Tomorrow I like Va Tech A LOT over Illinois.

PShabi 03-16-07 01:27 AM

I've got VT over Illinois too. I'm just playing the standard, crappy office pool thingy. Got 12/16 right today.

Picked ODU and Winthrop as long shots that didn't come through.
Also had Texas Tech and Duke obv.

Every time a final score ends in 8-8 (like the second game today) or 6(w)-1(l), I win cash.

There were a LOT of near 8-8s today, but I'm happy to have at least one locked up.

Robbr25 03-16-07 01:52 AM

Duke who would pick them to win, lol.
But I did have TT also. (and GW,Oral Roberts which was a debacle)

Zybomb 03-16-07 01:57 AM

HAd Duke getting upset in round 1 and Indiana winning

Had George Washington upsetting Vandy ,and MArquette beating MSU ... dunno if i could have been more wrong on either game

PShabi 03-16-07 02:33 AM

Whooops.

I had Oral Roberts. I HAVE Winthrop but they didn't play yet.

PShabi 03-16-07 02:33 AM

nice

Reel Deal 03-16-07 10:12 AM

My 11 year old is currently ahead of me in the pool I'm in... fucking ORU and ODU.

GTDawg 03-16-07 10:16 AM

I had VCU and MSU

But I had my longshots on yesterday's games.

I wanted Old Dominion and Davidson to win (stupid actually teasing me with an opening second half lead)

Theoretical Question posed too late

Just a thought for future years since I should've posted this idea on Monday, but the pool I'm normally in gives differential points for upsets (e.g., if a 16 beats a 1 in the first round, 1 point for the win, 15 for the differential)

I figure the 5-8 seeds rarely go deep, so on one entry, I pick against every 5-8 seed in round one. So far so good, thanks to VCU beating Duke. Plus, my nephew, who runs the pool, went to Wake so I know he's happy.

Comments on the concept?

Zybomb 03-16-07 01:16 PM

Certaintly interesting

One of the reasons I picked Duke ot be upset in round one, was I had them losing in round 2 to Pitt anyway, so I figured I may as well pick the upset (if I was wrong it costs me one game only), so this theory seems to make sense, especially if differential points are given

kkirk1329 03-16-07 04:14 PM

in my bracket so far, i have only 2 wrong....that being duke and ga tech

PShabi 03-16-07 09:35 PM
