2008 Wsop

The dates have just been announced: May 30-July 17, 2008. Someone was asking about this earlier (Invig?) but I couldn't find the thread.

The specific events haven't been announced yet but those of you planning on going now know what month and a half to block off your calendar. :)

2008 World Series of Poker Set for May 30 through July 17 in Las Vegas
Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino to Host 39th Annual Gathering

LAS VEGAS – October 8, 2007 – Harrah’s Entertainment Inc (NYSE: HET) announced today that the 39th annual World Series of Poker® Presented by Milwaukee’s Best Light will be staged at the Rio™ All-Suite Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas from May 30 through July 17, 2008.

“The team is still hard at work on the schedule of events for next year, but we’ve received so many requests for the dates that we decided to announce them now,” said Jeffrey Pollack, WSOP Commissioner.

“We’ll actually open the WSOP tournament room the week of May 26th for two special events,” said Geno Iafrate, vice president and assistant general manager of the Rio. “This ‘soft opening’ will give players a chance to register early and avoid the lines we had last year during opening weekend – our busiest time.”

"This way, it gives us more time to find additional ways to screw over players and dealers alike," he finished saying quietly. Fortunately this reporter's microphone picked up the statement in full.

Yup, That was me.

This is the big vacation for OceanWaves and I this year. We are trying to time things with a time share we can get in on cheap, but that little detail is not so critical.

My hope is that I'll be able to play in a $1500 NLH event. Not exactly sure how, just yet. I will be able to put up some of that from my online winnings, and I'll try to satty in if I can, and might be able to "sell myself" for the rest.

If not, we are still going and we will do the poker tourist thing and play some daily tournaments and cash games at other casionos. Heck I could even try a live satty once I am there.

Either way, that's the plan. Thanks for the info!

I'll at least give him credit for addressing the registration fiasco right out of the gate. Time will tell if it does any good.
