Why Full Tilt Why

I freerolled up a bankroll yesterday on Full tilt and got it up to 250$ today.

So I sat at 5/10$ NL vs "wisconsin kid"

Im up to 360$ after about 15 minutes and then I pick up JJ.

Everytime I limp in he raises to 30 or 40$, So I limp raise the pot to 100.

flop come 334. I bet out 120 and he pushes me all in for like 190 more.

I call and he flips AQ.

Turn K

River A.

Peace 720.00 pot

FUCK IT.

Quitting online poker after my various stakes.

Sweet Bankroll Management

akajeff 08-17-07 05:56 PM

talking shit with 3 posts?

Dude, I was clearly taking a shot and played the hand well to get my chips in with the best.

Thx for the comment tho.

Fildy 08-17-07 06:00 PM

You sat with 25BB. Which was your entire roll. Generally taking a shot means that you are risking a bigger amount of your bankroll than you normally do, not all of it. For a guy who trying to open lots of small stakes you sure do seem to care about your money. Good thing to show your investors!

akajeff 08-17-07 06:03 PM

I have stakes on Stars, not Full tilt.

Thanks again for your comment.

Fildy 08-17-07 06:06 PM

If you can find 3 regular forum posters who think that my comment is completely invalid I will kindly retract my statement, as well as send you $5 so you can mismanage it. By Forum regulars I mean those with over 500 posts.

akajeff 08-17-07 06:08 PM

Just don't come on here and ridicule me for br management. I clearly know I was playing way too high.

Talking Poker 08-17-07 06:19 PM

:eek::eek: Wow. :eek::eek:

At least you got exactly what you deserved.

If you want to just send me back my stake (or whatever % is left of it) so you can quit online poker now, I'm fine with that.

The more you post (especially things like this), the more I regret backing you in the first place.

akajeff 08-17-07 06:22 PM

I got exactly what I deserved?

Maybe I'd send it back if I dodged 6 outs.

Stop being so hard on me TP...it was a pretty big pot for me and would of been a nice cash---and now Im hurting and gotta grind micro mtts on stars (lol) fuck me and wisconsin kid

Fildy 08-17-07 06:23 PM

Thank You

Talking Poker 08-17-07 06:36 PM

I'm being exactly as hard on you as you deserve.

If you making a habit of palying with your entire bankroll on the line, YOU WILL GO BROKE. OK, I guess it's not a 100% certainty, but it's probably > 98% and the longer you do it, the higher that number goes. Get it all in enough (even as a healthy favorite every single time), and you WILL lose eventually. That's how math works.

And I'm sure if you had won this pot, you'd just kep on playing until you busted, either at 5/10 or 10/20 or whenever the math finally caught up to you.

So to answer your question, "Why Full Tilt, why?"

"Because you deserved it."

Sorry to come off as a jerk, but I just can't respect anyone who throws money away like that - while AT THE SAME TIME begging for money from strangers. That's messed up.

bigd007x 08-17-07 07:53 PM

akajeff i would do what u would everytime build up with nothing to 200 or 1k and even 2200 and i lost same way. it doesnt matter if u got ur money in good u cant be a winnign player like that i mean look at mike the mouth he does the same shit. howard lederer says bankroll management is more then 50% of the game and gus hanson says u can never become a pro without it. i know what ur feeling right now and its not over work ur ass back up the right way. you will feel beter and be a way better because of it gl.

JDMcNugent7 08-17-07 07:56 PM

you're an idiot. if i were wisconsin kid who is somewhat of a 5/10 reg i woulda shoved AQ too cuz he's ahead of ur range... then even if u double up, win it back somehow cuz ur not a 5/10 player and he's better than u. trust me i do it personally everyday, and the fish never understand their "bad luck", when really we just have the BR to play them till they are broke and they have <1 buy in.

akajeff 08-17-07 09:12 PM

Thanks for a post that shows some sympathy / relation to me.

I know what you're saying TP and Fildy and bid007x and I really need help working this bankroll thing out

akajeff 08-17-07 09:16 PM

Ok, seems fair. Just the way I played the hand, he has to know AQ is beat. But that's not the point, If someone has a 50k bankroll, they can spend 300 bucks on AQ.

You've probably done this before JD, when you were like us..trying to build a roll...??

Talking Poker 08-17-07 09:20 PM

No, the point is you are focusing on ONE HAND. I mean, did you really think you'd never lose an all in pot, whether you got your money in ahead or not (he certainly could have had JJ beat)?

When you sit with your whole roll (or even a significant portion of it), you are destined to lose it. And you deserve it for being so stupid.

akajeff 08-17-07 09:25 PM

I am focusing on this one hand because it was for my whole roll.

The truth is I'm not a cash game playerand the mentality is different. For a tourney player, I played it well, defined my hand as an overpair and just got UL.

All I gotta say. Im broke, I suck. GG

melioris 08-17-07 09:31 PM

and people say that the Port Bill UFIA drove all the fish offline.

Seriously guy, I am nice online, ask around. Granted I am a total asshole in real life, but nice online. This is the second completely idiotic thing you have done around here in a week. Don't ask why, don't get mad, just get better.

MAYHEM45 08-17-07 09:43 PM

the combination of these two points makes me lol.

akajeff 08-17-07 09:44 PM

How did I play JJ wrongly Im sry...what is the LOL for?

Until you edited it, all it was was LOL.

Reel Deal 08-17-07 09:51 PM

If you "played it well" you wouldn't have "defined your hand."

When are you going to realize the reason you're getting shit in this thread has zero to do with the hand?

Invigilator 08-17-07 10:22 PM

I'm not the expert, but I'm fine with the way the hand was played. The quote above is the problem. Taking a shot should not be with 100% of the bankroll.

BUT, and this would be a good question for the others, what would be a good "relatively reasonable" br % to take a shot with.

example: I am playing 25max and have my br up around $620. I don't think I would take a shot at 50 max until I had at least $750. If I dropped below $650, I'd go back down and not try again until I got around $900-$1000.

For my general BR management I try to follow a lot of the guidelines that Chris Ferguson used in his $1-$10 000 BR experiment. I also set up rules about multitabling and when to quit that I was only able to expand once I had a sufficient BR. (setting rules ahead of time keeps me from arguing from the tilting or overcautious voices in my head about when to quit)

PShabi 08-17-07 10:33 PM

This thread wreaks of SWA-strosity circa 2004. Fucking A perfect!!!!

stormswa 08-17-07 10:41 PM

ahh memories..

I think everything that could be told to OP has been said.

I dont mind taking shots at higher limits but you need to realize that shortstacking games you are going to get a lot of looser calls from people with full stacks. Plus in order to shortstack a higher limit game you have to have the money where if you lose it thats its ok. If that is all your money online that is also fine ONLY if you have the ability to deposit again. Obviously this is not your case because you are very upset about losing this money.

why would you post this thread/hand? you knew you were going to get shit for it.

hc422709 08-17-07 10:51 PM

That's really weird, most people do it the other way. Nice in real life, total asshole online.
