RD v. Tom McEvoy
 

So at the game last night the friend I went with asked me if I had heard about the tournament coming up at the poker room at our local dog track, he said they had been advertising it on one of the sports talk radio shows and that a former WSOP main event winner was going to play. I hadn't heard about it. Well, this morning on my way in to work I hear the ad on the radio show about the tournament and that Tom McEvoy was going to be playing and there'd be a bounty on Tom and thousands to the winner, etc. etc.

After the commercial break they come back on and say that they will give a free seat to the next listener that can answer a poker related trivia question. I start dialing... they give out the question: you have to have one of these two cards to make a straight, what are they? Soft ball!!!! Busy signal. Fuck. Redial... ringing, they pick up and I say I'm calling about the trivia question, the guys says, "hang on and turn your radio down." OK. I hear them go to the first guy, they ask him the question and he starts stammering... sweet, he doesn't know. They go to the next guy and I'm starting to think someone is definitely going to get this before they get to me... second guy starts stammering but he says, "ten..." Oh shit. More stammering and I'm thinking buzz this guy out for taking too long!! Then he says, "umm... jack?" Sweet. But then the dopes on the show start saying well he got one right and didn't you ask which one card? I'm thinking, 'oh god you got to be kidding me.' Then they get into a debate about how the question was poorly worded and blah, blah, blah. Finally one of the guys says, 'no, that was wrong, go to the next caller.' Well, the next caller is me!! I give them the right answer and they say, 'thanks, hold on the line you've got yourself a seat in the tournament.' Cool. :D

Here's hoping it's not their usual bullshit structure where you start with a 10BB stack. :rolleyes:

On first break, I'm short stacked after losing half my stack with AK. Silly blind structure.

Did have Tom at my table for a bit (will report more later).
