I would have had more fun at a root canal tonight...

Went and played $2/$2 NL live tonight... 4 1/2 hours and I see AKo once, AQ once, a pair of 7s and a pair of 2s, and that's it. I think I won two pots. Any PFR was getting called by at least 4 or 5 players so it was a showdown game. The most frustrating thing is I moved out of the 1 seat about 15 minutes in because it was annoying to have the dealer tip box in my fucking lap. Well, the guy that comes and sits down in the 1 seats goes on a ridiculous rush and gets up about 7 or 8 buy-ins. Then near the end of the night I get dealt QQ and it's a mis-deal... best hand of the entire night and it's a mis-deal. I've seriously never been that card dead in any poker game.

Man, live poker is a serious test of one's patience. I'm actually happy that I wound-up being down a little over one buy-in. Painful to sit there and watch these morons play A-rag for big pots all the way to showdown.

Bah.

Edit: I got involved in one big pot... I'll have to post it later for discussion b/c I'm not sure about the play.

Live poker is boring. I guess it's something you can do while you sleep though.

If it makes you feel any better, if you had stayed in the one seat, you wouldn't have gone on that same rush as the guy who sat down did. Every single shuffle would have been completely different. It's not like a black jack deck where the cards are fixed many hands in advance (also assuming everyone plays every hand exactly the same as the other people at the table).

I know, it was just that fact plus 3 or 4 other things that made it a very frustrating night. Of course, I came home and fired up Cake and doubled-up on two tables in about 45 minutes.

Went back for a few hours over the weekend... up over $600, even though I got some idiot woman to stick her entire stack in with K:c:6:c: on a board of 6:d:8:c:7:s: after she donk bets and was clearly weak I shoved and she says, "I know I probably shouldn't but I feel like gambling," of course she rivers a king to crack my AA. Anyway, all-in-all I'm enjoying live more and more, just soooo easy to read people live.

Have florida casinos started running NL? If so, any reviews on particular ones yet?

Well, the one here in St. Johns County has started running NL cash tables... pretty lame structure though ($2/$2 NL with a max buy-in of $100). Thus far the times I've played they've been ridiculously soft. Always seems to be 2 or 3 old guys that can barely see the board and will stack off with middle pair regardless of what the board looks like (well, they can't see it anyway...). Then they'll be 2 or 3 tattooed maintenance guys that are there to get drunk and blow half their week's pay, then another group of younger guys that have watched the WSOP on ESPN and think they can come down and win w/o really knowing what they're doing. Maybe they'll be 1 or 2 players that are fairly solid. Basically with the set up here it's a showdown game and you really just have to wait for strong hands and push them hard, no fancy plays required.
