Tonight's $0 River Card

Hey, maybe its not quite as much dough, but its a bad beat just the same, and this is a place to vent, is it not?

I was playin in a pokerchamps freeroll, (which they now pay out a whopping $20 by the way). I can't bring myself to deposit in this site, because it is so new, the software tweaks out from time to time, and I have heard rumors (from the admin of this board), that it's going to go down in a flaming wreck within the month.

But either way, it would be nice to make some money and cash out.

So I just sit down at the beginning, and first hand im dealt pocket twos in middle position. Everyone folds down to me (extremely tight for a free roll), and I just call. It ends up being just me and the big blind.

Flop comes Q82 rainbow, and he goes all in. Considering the number of people who usually go all in in these freerolls with nothing, I call with my set of twos. Don't you know he has a set of 8s and knocks me out hand 1.

ATLEAST it was only a freeroll! :p

that doesn't sound like a bad beat to me at all, he had the better hand and pushed

Haha, yeah it really isn't a bad beat at all, there were no odds involved he just had me flat out beat. It still sucks for me though!

I completely understand what you're saying.

It's not really a bad beat, but it's one of those things where... when you get KK, someone else gets AA... or when you flop a set, someone flops a higher set.

Makes you say to yourself... what the chances of that!

A heads up for you, and anyone else with freeroll winnings from the beta test....

I noticed if you go to cashier/cashout it says "you do not have areal money account, make a deposit before you attempt a cashout". It looks like you have to put money in to take it out. If anyone has any more info (how much you have to deposit, do you have to play to unlock freeroll winnings, etc.), please post it.

****as of 11/9/04 their response to my email was:

"In order to establish a transaction record with you, and thus open your account, you need to make a one-time, minimum deposit of US$ 30."

That sounds kind of shady to me. Sounds like a, "deposit your money, play X raked hands, and then we'll shut the site down before you have time to withdraw it". BASTARDS  !

BlibbityBlabbity 11-09-04 09:33 AM

I asked about raked hands, they said there were no requirements, just the deposit.

I will deposit at some point to get the money out, their site seems more appealing to me than Full Tilt, which did a similar beta test, but then didn't follow it up with anything to keep people playing there unless you play higher limits IMO.

hackers238 11-09-04 10:22 AM

Wow that is very shady advertising though.

I wasn't planning on depositing 30$ to this site, just to cash out my freeroll winnings. That sucks.

ouch, good thing it was only a freeroll...loll
