Just found this today.

Wow, the last hand was kind of lame. I have gotten to know the second place finisher whose pstars name is herschelw, pretty cool guy, seems to know a bit about the game....again, nice run Kurn

Moneymaker: "This tournament started with eight hundred thirty, ah... eight hundred thirty thousand players..."

Was it really that many?

BTW, no wonder the one guy lost, wearing Jaguars gear = instant 2nd place.

If you count every player who entered ANY of the qualifying matches, whethere they entered twice or what it would probably get that high

They claimed there were over 2.5 million entries into Round 1's, which represented over 830,000 unique players.

Holy...

16+ hours of poker in a day will do that to you. The tourney started at 11 AM, the final hand was at almost 4 AM.

They ran 24 Round 1's per week for nearly 7 months. If those average 3800 entries (the ones I was in had over 5500), that hits the number.
