Hey (again) guys.

So I decided I want to try to give poker another shot...been rereading all the books and just generally getting the itch to play again -- and this time to actually play well.

Hanging around here did me more good than anything the last time around, so I'm really hoping you guys won't mind having me around again asking questions (hopefully less stupid questions than last time). I hope to have some hands up for discussion again soon.

So anyway, how's it goin folks?

The best advice I can give you, is to avoid playing the player "Rogue23" he'll make you look like a :donkey

(any points for kissin' ass! lol)

Welcome back.

And ignore Spuddy... Everyone knows that guy is a total tool.

PunkyChikn 05-15-07 11:26 PM

Glad to see you guys still have a sense of humor

hey bro welcome back, hope it works out better for you this time.

Nice to meet you! It's hard to go wrong if you study what you learn here. I have started winning much more consistently since I started on this forum.

For the maybe 2 of you who didn't know what I meant:

The "total tool" is Rogue23, not Spuddy.

PunkyChikn 05-16-07 07:23 PM

Hey eej, noticed you got back in green since the last time I was around here. Nice work.

Also, hey TP, you still mad about me pushing on that flush draw against you and cracking your aces, or are we cool? Still sorry about that one...:o

stormswa 05-16-07 07:43 PM

hate it

I hate when people go on a semi-bluff then say sorry!!!

I mean did you not want to win the pot? of course not!!

PunkyChikn 05-16-07 07:52 PM

Hah, I suppose not. Still feel bad about how angry it got him though. And if I remember right the general consensus was that it was a marginal-at-best play.

Talking Poker 05-16-07 09:19 PM

I don't even remember what you are talking about, so I'm guessing we're cool.

Talking Poker 05-16-07 09:20 PM

I doublt I was angry. Maybe annoyed that you made a poor play (if that was the case) and got there, but I highly doubt I was angry.

Invigilator 05-16-07 10:04 PM

True. Although I do prefer it to the player that wins a hand and says "thanks for the chips"

stormswa 05-16-07 10:15 PM

yep

more reason why turning the chat off is recomended at the tables.

PunkyChikn 05-17-07 01:37 AM

Okie doke. Good to hear.

For clarity's sake... was the hand in question.

Talking Poker 05-17-07 02:01 AM

Wow... I can't believe that was nearly a year ago. Time flies.

As for what Brian said about turning chat off, I agree with that if you let other players' chat affect your game - ie, if their words can tilt you.

If you have your emotions under control though and don't let what they say bother you, I think it's beneficial to have chat on, so you can see when your opponents are tilting, etc. There are also occasional chat tells - most players aren't this stupid, but you'd be surprised.
