Important information regarding PS shuffling method

Seems the cards DON'T change once they are dealt, not even if you fold or use up the timer.

If you recall, he was the player who (accidentally) folded his hand for a chance at 100K.

Interesting. If that quote is true, they do it differently than Full Tilt.

I know most people don't care, and I know it doesn't make a difference (we've definitely been over this), but I prefer the Stars way.

That said, Full Tilt's method is more secure.

I recall a number of 2+2 threads questioning how "random" online shuffles were, and I'd always reply that after watching thousands of shuffles inB&M casinos online had to be both more random *and* more secure

I too have always wondered exactly how random these RNGS are. They have to be programmed somehow with SOME (despite how intense) sort of pattern or something I'd have to assume, since they couldn't freely choose a truly random event (bc then A.I would be possible :) )

I'd suggest digging into the 2+2 archive for their *probability* forum as a start. I've seen some pretty good discussions about "pseudo-random" generators (I think) somewhere. It gives me enough confidence that online sites shuffles are no less "random" than live, probably a lot more.

Of course this is true. It is true for any RNG.

However, it's gotta be designed in such a way that you won't care anymore. I mean, look at your PT numbers over some huge sample...all the percentages of hands dealt is right, no? That would probably answer any wonderings you had.

You know, I'd be more confident if they used the noise produced from an analog circuit like Atari did.

Of course, the algorithm they use for their rng has probably been tested so much that it doesn't even matter anymore.

I wonder if there's a guy somewhere that wrote the code and sits at some .01/.02 table and just CRUSHES from his office at Pokerstars.

I asked Stars about this some time ago and they sent me a very detailed technical description. I am not a programmer, and I can't say I understood it all, but I know enough to know it was not BS. It was definitely as random as I could ever want it to be.

No, sorry, I deleted the email a while ago. But if someone asked, they would probably get the same email.
