Closing.....
 

Since ive started playing again, mainly thanks to TP, ive done well at cash games, with the exception of a couple of bad plays i posted here, and quite well in SnGs.

However, in some SnS's and most tourneys, im finding it harder on the bubble and closing the game out than i previously had.

Maybe its bad beats, as i have lost count of the amount of times ive been all in ahead to win the game and have come up short, only to come 2nd or to get it back, go all in ahead and lose again.

I cant see a problem in my play on the whole, i used to be very good on the bubble, but now it seems i cant finish it off, and i lose pots im in.

Ill post some hands later, but is there a general way of thinking im missing, and all bubble advice would be appreciated as at the moment its costing me $$$

Late tourney situations are close analogues to SNGs. The math of poker is such that long negative streaks happen. When you play correct ICM - type strategy you often end up either getting all your chips in as a small favorite (Pair vs 2 overs, AJ vs KQ, etc.) because based on the size of the blinds vs stack size, you know you can't sit around and wait for the times you're a bigger favorite.

Bottom line, the long run is a lot longer than you think. You may still be playing close to optimal bubble strategy but are caught in a short-run (50-100 tourney) fluctuation.
