FT Points Redemption :)

It took 6 week from the time I ordered it, but my brand new 32 GB ipod Touch finally arrived today. It cost me 105,000 points.

There are lots of other nifty gadgets in the FT Store that I could buy, but I think I'm gonna save up for the 523,455 point Panasonic 50" plasma tv. By the time I get there, hopefully they will have a better one available.

I dunno... Canon ESO Digital Rebel Xti for 150k points is pretty tempting.

Anyone get anything cool recently or saving up for something special?

congratulation

I ordered book from PS and it took then 5months.

It might have something to do with your location

But I will agree punctuality on point-purchased swag isn't the seller.

I've still got a long way to go but the neon Full Tilt sign is just begging to be put up in my poker room. Also, would LOVE to have the poker table but it's US only. :( (not that I have anywhere NEAR enough points.)

I also want one of the Andy Bloch cowboy hats just to wear during our poker nights. ;) And yeah...I don't even enough points for that yet.

at the end of this month i am getting the 24-inch monitor. Then, probably the Rebel camera.

JDMcNugent7 05-13-08 06:36 PM

the 50" plasma i got from stars is awesome def worth it.

GTDawg 05-13-08 07:37 PM

Dude...you spent all that on an iPhone that doesn't make phone calls?

Fildy 05-13-08 07:46 PM

I was gonna save up for a TV once. Had to settle for a flask.

jhill3535 05-13-08 08:05 PM

I am saving for the 50" as well, I only have like 65k right now but I could buy another 25k with ironman medals if I wanted to at any time.

I haven't been playing much on FTP lately, but I used to be iron for several months last year.

I have never spent a single FT Point or FPP. I spent all my party points at once on magazine subscriptions when party quit the US.

edit: I take it back that I NEVER spent a point, but I am sure I have never spent more than 100 on anything and probably less than 1000 points ever on either site.

PShabi 05-13-08 08:31 PM

I got 100k points. I'd like to pick up golf again. Probably haven't been in 8 years. I suck but wouldn't mind going out with some buddies this summer to kill some time.

With that in mind, anybody got any opinions on the golf clubs on there?

jhill3535 05-13-08 09:11 PM

Cheap clubs, thats for sure. Pretty much you Wal-Mart brand club with the FTP sticker on it. Probably fine for a beginner, but I don't think there is much value as you will be spending almost $400 worth of points and you could probably buy something very similar for less than $200

Talking Poker 05-13-08 10:16 PM

I already have a phone.

This one does everything else (and then some) and costs me a total of $0 per month for unlimited useage.

I like things that cost me $0 per month for unlimited usage.

jhill3535 05-13-08 10:59 PM

I agree, the iTouch is pretty sweet.

Personally, Im looking at the digital rebel as a snapshot camera...it would help a lot to have a digital for setup shots, getting film for the polaroid that i use to check lighting is getting pricey.

Windbreaker 05-14-08 04:20 PM

I got the 50" tv from Stars last year - older model. The US model they have now is a much nicer version than they give for CDNs.

I'm seriously thinking about saving enough points for a car...not sure which one. I may save up for a while and get the Porche and try to sell it - only because the conversion factor is much greater than anything I can get now. (This is because cars still costs a lot more in Canada than US - eg. each FPP would be worth about 2.5 cents each vs 1.61 cents for anything else -> makes a significant difference over three million fpps).

Of course I'm still a longs ways away. At my current pace...I probably could get the Porche in about a little under two years. Maybe I'm dumb and should cash the points now and get the currency in todays dollar.

Talking Poker 05-14-08 06:41 PM

With that kind of valume, I can't believe you choose:

Stars Points
over
FTP points + RB

Do you really think you come out ahead, looking at it solely like that? Or is it the other factors (game selection, game softness, etc) that allows you to make up for the tens of thousands of dollars you give up in RB each year?

Windbreaker 05-15-08 12:19 AM

I technically can't get RB on FTP. I know there are ways to work around it...but I really don't want to do that.

Also, I really don't feel like I'm giving up anything at all. With the equivalent volume on FTP, the difference in value would be around 2%...I really don't know how much FTP points are worth.

PokerStars FPPs, are as good as cash for me. Supernovas can use concierge service to get almost anything they want. And my rakeback equivalent rb starts at 28%. That doesn't include all the milestone bonuses, which can make it jump to low to mid 30% wise.

There are other added benefits such as weekly 50k freerolls, (not high on my list), superior customer service, and more games running that I like.

Everyone has their own preferences.

herschelw 05-24-08 09:54 AM

when you include milestone bonuses stars concierge program is pretty equivalent to rakeback. I just bought a couch through the concierge program and I will be having stars pay for a lot of the travel expenses for the WSOP.
