What I learned in my Binge Weekend

Well I got kicked out of the house so I had a MARATHON weekend at Party. I was basically playing non-stop all weekend. In this period I had alot of success. I have also since given a little back. So here are somethings I noticed about my personal success in NL:

A. There are two ways to win at NL. Way one happens to you every few weeks, or every other day, or whatever. You just end up getting incredible cards. I had alot of this over the weekend. I made 5 sets, and folded a set that would have been made on the river and taken two guys out. Everytime I had a decent hand, the fates consipired to make someone else have a slightly lesser hand. All of my overs held up, and my 93 blinds flopped 933. It was just a wonderful time.

B. The second way to win is solid grinding. Just wait for your monsters, and take the small pots with TP good kicker. Stay away from the marginal hands that could end up being dominated. Raise your good hands pre-flop. Make the occassional steal, but do not lose your shirt doing so. This way should be how you play daily.

In giving back a little of my hard earned money I figured the best ways to give back money in NL is by chasing. Make that laydown people. Do not draw to you gutshot just because there is a few bucks in the pot. Do not play that KJ in EP just because you have not seen a hand in a while.

Truely good poker playing takes patiance. I am seeing much more of this at the 100/NL level. Nobody (with a few exceptions) is going to take that next card for the flush draw if you bet the pot with TP. Unless the pot odds are correct they will make the correct laydown. In doing this for the past few days I have had the moderate wins. A half buyin here, a half buyin there, and it adds up. Lately I have not been updating my daily numbers in my blog. I want to see how it changes over a week or a month.

Grinding is the way to make money in poker at least for me. The extreme days and the fun runs are aewsome and will build your roll quickly in spurts, but the day to day solid play will allow you to keep that roll and have it grow over time.

I learned that drinking yourself sober with absinthe is a good way to have a 7 hour profit session at Paradise. :p

Added bonus?

Was this the weekend that Party was rewarding the players with the most raked hands? Did you qualify, and/or get any extra cash?

very nice advice SIR... glad to see your rebuilding your bankroll back up to where it was after losing it.

Ummm...

I do not think it was. Because if it was the weekend I would for sure have won. I spent all night friday until like 5AM, caught three hours sleep, woke up again, spent all day Saturday playing. Went to be earlier.. like 2AM.. woke up to Softcore Porn on Showtime at 6AM. BTW: I do not have showtime at home, but I am really liking things like The "L" Word. Got up, showered to wake up, played alot of Sunday. Was going to go to sleep early but got involved in a tourney, and that was my weekend. Probably would have won a contest!
