2005 Wsop...

So.... who else is going to Vegas for the WSOP? Are any of you playing, and if so, in what event(s)?

Tony Cheval 04-08-05 03:05 AM

Well hmm, I'm not sure Colorado casinos counted for the Employee event, but I suppose having been out 2 months now from that job would disqualify me anyway. :D

Talking Poker 04-08-05 09:30 AM

Is no one going? Surely someone is going......

Aequitas58 04-08-05 11:07 AM

I'll be studying for the PA + NJ bar exams. Trust me, in late June / early July, I would rather be in the middle of the desert surrounded by drugs, hookers, booze, neon lights, and cheap buffets.

PShabi 04-08-05 11:45 AM

If I win an entry, I'll be there. I guess I need to start playing some qualifiers though. I've got some time.

What do you guys no about the Party Step Qualifiers. Same shit as the regular steps, except winner gets an entry?

Penguinfan 04-08-05 03:11 PM

Now theres something for a head stone!

Penguinfan 04-08-05 03:13 PM

Am I reading that right where it says the blinds increase every 2 hours for the main event? 2 hours?

GeoffM 04-08-05 04:08 PM

I'll let everyone know as soon as I can find out when Absolute is running those satellites Chip referred to :( .

Every 2 hours, possibly. They are expecting close to 8,000 players this year and they have to squeeze it all in. Can someone else say "An online player is winning yet again, no pro will win?"

Penguinfan 04-08-05 04:52 PM

The way I read the description it looks as if they are gonna cap it at 6600 entries. Every 2 hours seems like a long time to me actually. I guess I am jaded by the 10 minute increases at the Trop in AC.

deadwood 04-09-05 11:24 AM

Any idea why they moved the WSOP to June/July?

omahilo 04-09-05 11:34 AM

I think the blinds for the main event are every 90 minutes.

BlibbityBlabbity 04-09-05 11:57 AM

EACH LEVEL WILL LAST TWO HOURS, WITH A 15-MINUTE BREAK AFTER EVERY LEVEL. THE FIELD WILL BE SPLIT OVER FIRST THREE DAYS AND WILL COMBINE ON DAY FOUR. DAYS FOUR FIVE AND SIX WILL PLAY FIVE LEVELS EACH. DAY SEVEN WILL BE PLAYED DOWN TO 36 PLAYERS. DAY EIGHT WILL BE PLAYED DOWN TO THE FINAL NINE PLAYERS. PLAY RESUMES AT NOON EACH DAY

Click on the main event "title/link" in the schedule and the blind table pops up. Two hours is very long (even for live play), right?

omahilo 04-09-05 12:23 PM

yeah 2 hrs is alot... wasnt expecting that.

90 minutes was last yr I believe.

PShabi 04-10-05 01:39 AM

One "step" closer! Just won my first try at Party Step 1 WSOP qualifier.

ChipFish 04-10-05 01:44 AM

I've been bouncing around for a while now.
I expect to be bouncing levels until sometime in June.
A player can expect to get lost in these bloody things for months.

Good practice value for the $11 bucks though.
I have made level 3 twice now and yes I am about to start level 1 after getting bad beat back. :(

PShabi 04-10-05 09:37 AM

That's what I was imagining. I mean, I played solid/good poker in the first one, but I won my share of coinflips when it got down to 4/5 handed. I was the short stack at 5 handed and didn't make a bet other than all-in after that. Even heads-up it was all-in or nothing. The blinds were 250/500 @ the end.

I just don't see myself having the luck to get through 6 steps of crapshoots. But yeah, good practice and for $11, I'll take my chances.

Kurn 04-10-05 12:09 PM

At this point, I'm not sure. Obviously, if I win a seat, I'll be there. By the end of May I'll decide if I'll go whether or not I win a seat.

PShabi 04-10-05 03:33 PM

Step 3 baby!

Step 2 - Top 2 advance, 3-7 loop back to step 1.

Short stack at table with 7 left.

Winner!

2 for 2 and on to step 3.

Vegas Baby, Vegas!

ChipFish 04-10-05 03:37 PM

Good luck.
Here is my progress:
Paid entry to Step 1
Won entry to Step 1
Won entry to Step 2
Won entry to Step 1
Won entry to Step 2
Won entry to Step 3
Won entry to Step 1
Won entry to Step 2
Won entry to Step 1
Won entry to Step 2
Won entry to Step 3
Won entry to Step 1
Won entry to Step 1

Sigh. :(

Talking Poker 04-10-05 06:10 PM

2 hour levels are a huge advantage for experienced players.... Lots and lots and lots of time to wait out the impatient players. Last year, if memory servers, the rounds were 1 hour and 40 minutes each, and I believe a number of pros were complaining because they used to be 2 hours each.

badblood44 04-12-05 11:52 AM

I will be there the 1st weekend in June. The only event I may play in is the Friday $1500 NLHE event. I'd rate the chances of me playing in that at about 25% right now.

PShabi 04-12-05 09:40 PM

In step 3 right now trying to get a cheap ticket in.

Party, Steps, WSOP#3, table 1009879. Actually waiting for some comp.

Stop by if you're bored. Pshabi.

PShabi 04-12-05 10:13 PM

back to step 2 :(

PShabi 04-16-05 02:54 PM

Back to Step 3!!!!!!!!!!

Step 1
Step 2
Step 3
Step 2
