When you make a big bluff online

Can you ever feel your heart racing? I just made one and i think i might have just had a mild heart attack. lol. On a serious note does it ever happen to you?

BlibbityBlabbity 05-06-05 02:08 AM

yeah, as if your heart is beating PLEASE, DON'T, CALL, PLEASE, DON'T, CALL, PLEASE, DON'T, CALL, PLEASE, DON'T, CALL, PLEASE, DON'T, CALL, PLEASE, DON'T, CALL, ...... :D

Depends how big the bluff is

bigjohnstud2o 05-06-05 02:20 AM

well

I guess big is different for different rolls. My roll is only ~390 and my bluff a pot size bet on turn to the chip leader at the $200 NL table. He had 600+ and i bet like ~80 into a ~80 pot. He went into the tank and i was saying to myself "God Damnit Brian, why did i do that" ((no offense)1st time i said anything ab you) I just knew he was going to call. Then he mucked bc he and i were playing earlier and i was playing supertight and he though i had for sure flopped or turned a set. LMAO i had 10-3 and was shaking like a nerd in gym class.

I tend to jump out of my seat, standing several feet from the computer, and then start chanting the mantra - please fold, please fold, etc.

Typically, my biggest bluffs are in large multi-table tournaments, near the end of tournaments, so there is a lot at stake.

It's very pressing on my nerves, but there is nothing like that rush of making the successful bluff.

What about live?

Made a HUGE (All-in) bluff last night, into a paired board with nothing but an ace over and a str8 draw. Knocked my buddy off of top pair.

My heart was ready to jump out of my chest. He took FORFUCKINGEVER to make the lay down and I was trying to breathe deeply so my pulse in my neck wouldn't burst.

Online, it's better, because I just scream (literally), "fold, fold, fold, fold, fold, fold, fold" until they do :p .

This is a good point to....the stress level (for me at least) depends on if you are semi-bluffing with outs or if you will be totally screwed if they call.

I am really working on my Jedi mind control skills lately....You WILL fold, a quick hand swipe across the screen, they fold, and then they type into chat "I WILL fold". Its kind of freaky really. :D

Sounds to me like you are playing above your bankroll. I've learned my lesson in giving out this advice (or have I?), but if you are bluffing 20% of your bankroll in a single bet, or sitting with half your roll at a given table... I think that might be too risky. IMO.

bigjohnstud2o 05-06-05 11:31 AM

yes

i realized that and have since moved down to the 25nl tables per someones advice. I knew it was above my bankroll just didnt know how much over it was. Now im 3 tabling 25$ tables. Just dont seem like the players are any better/worse at any of the limits i have played. I do understand that this risk of losing my whole roll was at stake. well 75%. But i was so excited to have won so quickly that i let it go to my head a little.

For me, it's not so much the big bluffs that get me out of my chair. It's when I get all in with Aces preflop in a tourney (or a monster on the flop) and get called by a much weaker hand. That's what sends me to my feet... knowing I'm a HUGE favorite and thinking "No Jack! No Jack! No Jack!" (or whatever the case may be). Sometimes I actually double up, but if I had a nickel for every 2 outer that took me out of a big tournament.... ggrrrrrr.....

Maybe I should try some Jedi mind stuff on the computer dealer:
*Wave Hand Across screen*
"You will put a blank on the river."
"I will put a blank on the river."
