Superstars

Who would you rather back in a tourney? Doyle Brunson or Daniel Negreanu?

kkirk1329 07-25-05 11:02 PM

depends on what kind of stakes the tourney is, doyle seems to not really care about tournies that dont have a big prize pool or a bracelet for the winner. if it was the main event i would back doyle if it was a smaller even id go with daniel

Oddly enough, I would say Daniel.

I think Doyle has a lifetime of experience and great insticts coupled with an aggressive style BUT....

From what I have seen (limited, at best) I think Daniel's ability to read his opponents and his instincts of when to play certain "unconventional" hands IN ADDITION to the aggressive style, give him an edge.

Close call, though....I would LOVE to see them play some heads up! :)

Daniel is my pick as well. He is younger and has more stamina. Beyond that obvious statement, I think Daniel is better at deriving info from his opponents. Doyle is the man, but I think Daniel is on another level. When he wants to be, that is.

Negreanu, for sure.

BTW, I'm moving this out of "Off Topic" since it's poker related.

junYUN 07-25-05 11:32 PM

he's also much younger....

remember doyle does this at "older than dirt" age..

kkirk1329 07-26-05 12:39 AM

daniel is good but ill take the guy with 10 bracelets and a whole lot of years of experience

kkirk1329 07-26-05 12:40 AM

how about Phil Ivey or Daniel?

2Tone 07-26-05 01:05 AM

Ivey, Daniel then Doyle

No disrespect intended to Doyle, but I'm not sure that that he's still playing at the level of Daniel and Ivey on a day to day basis. He's a legend, and proved he is still capable of cleaning house in any given event, but I'm going to go with a younger talent. Meanwhile, Daniel has had an incredible run, but if I could back anyone, I'd put my money behind Phil Ivey.

Daniel, and you can be sure he'd be thrilled to have the $30+3 I can afford to throw his way.

JDMcNugent7 07-26-05 01:53 AM

Daniel, mainly because if it's my money im investing into him, i would love to invest that money on the guy that won the Poker Tournament LeaderBoard of last year. He's obviously consistent, knows when to mix it up, and an all around good player.

junYUN 07-26-05 02:31 AM

gotta go with ivey
