Empire Reload

+3% on my rakeback and now this, guess I'll stick around for a while.

Im gonna pass, dont find omaha8 rock gardens very appealing. Even the holdem NL tables are kucka.

PShabi 10-10-05 08:51 PM

For just $100, and 10x raked hands required, is it worth it?

I know they don't count your rake at all during bonus periods so you aren't getting rakeback while clearing.

I'm not saying one way or the other but I'm asking.

MAYHEM45 10-10-05 08:53 PM

10x raked hands equals 4000 total hands played or more. So Im saying no, not worth it, at least for me.

Need more info

How/why is that? Can anyone explain?

Aequitas58 10-11-05 07:19 AM

Pshabi or TP, feel free to correct me if I'm wrong:

During the bonus period, when a player receives a bonus directly from the site itself (ie: Empire giving you $100 to clear 10x), that money is subtracted from your rakeback total because it is charged against the affiliate.

I don't think this is the modus operandi for every single website, but I recall it being in place for Party/Skins.

PShabi 10-11-05 08:41 AM

I'm pretty sure that's the jist of it.

Empire withholds 100%. I do know that UB only withholds 25% or something like that.

As an Empire affiliate who's ENTRIE "forum" group of players literally earns me NEGATIVE $$ each and every month (no joke), I can confirm that this is true. So, for your rake-backers, not only will you not be EARNING rake back during bonus periods, but you will likely be LOSING some of the rake you eanred during other times in the month as well...

Bonus whoring and rakeback do no go hand in hand. You should really pick one or the other for any given site.

Not entirely true. Here's a thread from 2 + 2 where this has been discussed:

If this looks familiar it's because I also posted it in another thread.

Ouch

This is an informative thread for me. TP, does mean being an affiliate literally costs you money? Does Empire charge your account? If you sign up a bunch of players who turn out to be bonus whores, do you have the option of dropping them?

Talking Poker 10-11-05 10:59 PM

I don't believe that I do. They don't BILL ME, but the net loss from this forum (the link on the main page of TP.com) does come out of the commissions I earn from my other players. It's not a big deal - it averages maybe 18-20 bucks in the hole each month. I just think it's funny though, since people think I run this place for the money, when that couldn't really be much farther from the truth. If it wasn't for deals like Noble/Titan, where I split my commission with you guys (Titan is $40 for you and $35 for me), I'd be in the hole after expenses (counting promotions, etc). No lie...
