Disconnect Protect in Tourneys

I was playing a tourney on Absolute Poker for a league thing, and it was the first time I've ever seen a site that has disconnect protect for a tourney. Is it me, or does anyone else find this to be rather going against the whole concept of a tourney?

I had when the tourney got down to 4-handed. I flopped top pair from the BB. We checked to the limper of the hand who bet min, the SB called, and I raised it 4.5x that bet. The limper folded, and the SB disconnected with an open ender. I'm not suggesting he did it on purpose...maybe he did d/c....but in any case, is it me or d/c protects shouldn't be allowed in tourneys? The whole point of the tourney is that each decision you make can break you, you shouldn't be given an opportunity to see the river when someone puts you to a decision.

Anyone else see this as a problem? Or is it only me?

I like added time for a disconnect (and potentially a lot of it - like 2-5 minutes), but I don't like all in protection. At the FT, I'd be ok with even more time added and freezing the tourney clock. But I doubt that will ever happen...

I'm with TP. On a disconnect, allow an extra two minutes w/ the tourney clock stopped for the first one in the tourney. After that, you're at the mercy of your connection.

Definitely should not be allowed to disconnect and remain in the hand. I'd bet money that he did it purposely Wind.

I like to think I'm an ethical gambler. I also think a good competitor uses every possible edge to get a win. I would be tempted to disconnect in the right spots if I thought it gave me an edge. I'd probably even do it.

Ok...I'm a dumbass. I am running on 3 hours of sleep give or take. I knew I was setting myself up for that.

Is a single table sng considered a FT? :)

Only if that's what you want to call it.
