Might take a break

I'm not sure if I'm going to. I'm playing great poker and consistently getting bad beats. But the kicker was tonight right before I went to bed. I decided to play a $3 tourney after I was card dead in a $10. Wouldn't really care so much, but I don't think I've ever, ever been this card dead before. Worst part is reading through the hand histories I didn't fold a single hand that would have been a winner. Only reason I saw this many hand, I didn't get dealt any suited connectors, one gappers or any face cards that had a numbered card above a 5 or any aces for nearly the last forty hands. Scratch that, first hand after the break I went all in w J 9 and beat A 9, fuckin weird. Still sitting 149/155 though. I'll go ahead and post stats now and decide what I'm going to do after the tournament.

During current Hold'em session you were dealt 63 hands and saw flop:
- 0 out of 7 times while in big blind (0%)
- 0 out of 7 times while in small blind (0%)
- 6 out of 49 times in other positions (12%)
- a total of 6 out of 63 (9%)
Pots won at showdown - 1 of 1 (100%)
Pots won without showdown - 0

Oh, and my BB, there was a donkey to my right that consistently pushed on my BB and off the button when i was small blind when there were limpers. He got luckier then hell to stay in the tournament.

During current Hold'em session you were dealt 70 hands and saw flop:
- 1 out of 8 times while in big blind (12%)
- 0 out of 8 times while in small blind (0%)
- 7 out of 54 times in other positions (12%)
- a total of 8 out of 70 (11%)
Pots won at showdown - 1 of 2 (50%)

Final stats, got dealt 66 and pushed, was called by 88 and AJ, AJ took it down.

Edit: I'm not sure what I'm gonna do, I'll probably play a $4 180 tomorrow and if this nonsense continues I'll stop playing for a few days.

In tournament play, you can play perfect and have your world come crashing down with the dealer's turn of the card. A nasty streak can make this happen over and over, leaving you wondering what the fuck you are doing.

Play cash games for a while.

You need to understand that poker is a long term game. Just because you are on a bad stretch of being card dead, or taking bad beats, or {whatever the variance controlled problem may be}, doesn't mean tha t's how things will be forever.

When deciding if you should keep playing (in a game, or in general), you need to look at the other thing you mention: How are you playing? You said you were playing great. So, if that's true and you really are, and you're not letting this get to you yet (which wouldn't surprise me), then there is no reason for a break. If, however, you are letting this affect your attitude and your decisions, then yes, you should stop playing until you can come back with your head straight.

I dunno if this is good advice for the levels in which you are playing at or not --- but based on these numbers, you may want to step up your aggression a little bit in the correct spots. The 0 won that did not go to showdown is simply too low. Remember it's not only about the cards

TP is spot on, I'm running through a bad stretch myself, but I know it won't last, just need to stay cool and not tilt off my roll. :p
