Do you Accept: PART 2

Let's try this again, with a little imagination.
Be sure to read the bold part.

Roughly 150 Players left and this happens:

Chop Chop?
Kevin Nathan is traveling around the Amazon Room right now, asking all of the players if they want to chop. Currently, each player, if chopped, could walk away with $500,000.
YOU ARE PARTICIPANT #150 of 150 to be asked, and the Tournament DIRECTOR has Personally asked you if you would accept the chop, and will allow the chop to happen.

Do you Accept the chop?

melioris 08-06-06 11:49 AM

if you are asking if 149 out of 150 have agreed to it and I am the last one they asked about the chop, and if the current payout is 47K, and if I have average stack size, then yes, I take the 500K.

Robbie Robb 08-06-06 11:58 AM

Alright, given this SPECIFIC scenario, sure, I'll take the chop.

ChipFish 08-06-06 12:37 PM

Now you're just being wishywashy.
:p

Robbie Robb 08-06-06 01:29 PM

That's me! hee hee.

I think the main reason that I would take the chop in the second scenario you presented is simply because I'm the LAST person to decide. 149 other people have thought that a 500K chop is a good deal and I'd really hate to be the one that says no. I'm not a powerful guy and my charisma can only talk me out of so many ass-kickings. I don't know that it's able to talk me out of 149 ass-kickings :)

Boobie Lover 08-06-06 01:45 PM

I would never accept this deal since it would be a logistical nightmare to set up between the players (since the WSOP officials will have no part of a deal). I would fear the worst about this scenario of trusting other players to give up their final table winnings to an escrow account shared among the other players.

I believe he's suggesting that Harrah's would be behind this deal and would pay everyone evenly (which is all the more reason this is so ridiculous, since some people have 50 times more chips than others). Which leads me to this question before I can answer:

How many chips do I have?

ChipFish 08-06-06 03:34 PM

Assume this will be an even chop (not based on chipstacks).

ChipFish 08-06-06 03:34 PM

Stop being stupid. Re-Read the part in the scenario where this is legit.

Talking Poker 08-06-06 03:42 PM

This is just so goofy, because your hypothetical situation is impossible (for numerous reasons). But sure, if 149 other guys agreed to this, I'd do it. I'll assume there is something in the water and it's affecting me too.

omahilo 08-06-06 04:05 PM

LOL

Dodoubled 08-06-06 07:53 PM

If I were guy No. 150, and it came down to me, and me only, to decide if the chop would happen, you're damn right I would take it.

If I said "NO" in the face of 149 other "YESES," I would have to remember that I would have to walk past those other 149 people on my way out the casino, into the parking lot and all the way to my car.

I'll stand by my principles, but I ain't no damn fool, either.
