The FBI has zero authority to seize funds in foreign banks without the express cooperation of those banks. Some funds are being held as evidence in this case. I expect the banks are cooperating because they think NETeller's legal team will get an acquittal (I personally think there is a very reasonable chance they will).
This prosecution flies in the face of WTO rulings. While the DOJ and the current administration may think the US doesn't have to listen to the WTO, the judge has the final say.
I've been reading through the threads on FCP and there's a lot of misinformtion there, especially from the "I told you so" guy who is just parroting the FBI party line. The FBI is NOT the final arbiter on this, the courts will be.
As an aside, there was a link in one of the threads to a column by Walter Williams right after the Goodlatte Bill passed the House last Summer. For those who are unfamiliar, Walter Williams ia a conservative columnist who has occasionally subbed for Rush Limbaugh on the radio, Interesting read if for no other reason than to show that all conservatives are not behind this insanity.
