If there is one thing I can tell you about Americans after dealing with typical "fish-style" people eight hours a day it's this: they do NOT read. I'm not saying they don't know HOW to read as I'm sure they manage that. It's that they CHOOSE not to.
So, the pop-up means nothing.
Now, the TV commercials - if there are any - THOSE may get their attention but here's where we get to the crux of the issue. How many of these fish are going to want to waste time watching, or, gods forbid, *reading* about how to improve their game. Doing something to improve their game would a) mean they would have to admit that their game needs improving and b) delay them from actually playing.
I'm reminded of a sketch from comedy group The Frantics called Tai-Kwan-Leap (or Boot to the Head). It sums up patience very well...
No, these videos do absolutely NOTHING to worry me that the fish pool will dry up. Let's face it, fish exist because of people seeing pros making the big scores on TV or hearing about Sunday Million winners and they all think I can be next! So they go out and start to play. The fact that they suck means nothing to them as most of them believe either a) it's all luck anyway or b) they don't believe they suck, they think they're great. (Calling a reraise preflop with 62o is always good play isn't it???)
It really boils down to the following: most people simply aren't willing to do anything to help them succeed. They're looking for the quick score - big poker pots, lottery wins, whatever. As soon as they have to work for it, it quits being fun and they lose interest.
