Default My first ever live tourney ($200+$20 ish)

so, the big casino close to me opened its poker room, so i played in the first ever tourney there. I even spotted a couple of actual pro's!!

5k chips to start, 25/50 starting blinds, blinds up every 30mins, break every 2 hours. Not a bad system imo, lots of time to play good poker.

So.... i fold every hand for 1 hour (i know, shocking for me huh?) then finally hit the monster of J9s in the cut off, and as ive folded for a month, i raise 3x, called in the BB, i CB after he checks an A 4 9 flop and take it down! wootness.

Then cards come at once, A9 suited on the button, i call a small raise from the cut off who i noticed likes to steal and both blinds called aswell. I flop a flush (lolz) and bet all streets as i am certain that cut off hit something by the smile he let out (easyest read ever i think). After those 2 hands im at 8k, average chips is about 5.5k

Then i get J9 in the BB, call a min raise from MP along with 2 others, figured for 100 chips im getting 7-1 so fuck it! Flop is 5 7 8 rainbow. shortstack pushes for 1.6k, i think for ages, work out the odds, and put him on maybe pair/gutshot or A5ish. He flips 74, so good read kinda, i think i was 62/38 from there ish (my table math there may have been out), but i miss so im down to 5k again.

Then i get KK which plays itself to a 3k push on my 200 BB from the button, i take out QTs and am back to 8.5k.

From here i didnt remember many of the hands, except calling a small all in with overcards and a flush draw and hitting on the river to get to 14k.

Also i called a push from UTG, he pushed for 1.5k, i was BB for 400, and had T2s. Antes and blinds gave me some odds to call, plus the guy was a prick so i called it and took down his A4off. Good times.

then comes the lucky hand, which i defended at the table and the guy to my right (the owner of poker.co.uk weirdly, called matt) also said was a good play, so i was happy.

QJs in cut off, raise to 3.5x BB (about 2k) as im mixing up between 3 and 4x raises randomly. BB calls. Flop J 4 8 rainbow. I bet for 2/3 (3k ish) pot, and he raises to 7k. i push over the top for about 20k at this point. I seriously put him on QJ/KJ or even A8, and my table image should have made him fold to the push, as i wanted the big pot for the table chip lead, as my play there was damn good so i had table respect. He thinks for like 7 mins, then calls for "odds" saying "i need help i think". I then say why call if your behind, he says cant really afford to fold, he had like 9k back, i dont get it either. He flips KJ, turn is a T giving me 9 or Q for the gold, and the river is a lovely lady so i donk it off like a good boy. Hello 40k chips.

40 left now, 8 paid, basically got KK and AK twice, KK and AK won all in vs low stacks, and the AK was in the BB where i pushed to a MP raise. 55k chips!

20 left - 2 tables, i am card dead, fold every damn hand bar 1 steal and its final table time with 45k chips (im in 5th but bad position on the FT), prizes were....

1 - $5.4k
2 - $3.4k
3 - $2.1k
4 - $1.5k
5 - $1k
6 - $800
7 - $700
8 - $600

so as its 8 paid and a FT of 10, we organise to give 10th and 9th $400 each as it took 8 hours to get to the FT so we all didnt wanna go home empty handed.

first hand at FT im in BB for 6k, UTG pushes for 20k, eveyrone folds, i find AQs and instacall with UTGs low chips and huge range.

He flips QJ. flop gives us both a Q and him 2 spades. Turn blank river 4

So next hand i get JJ, push all in over a raise, end up vs 99 and take him out. back to 50k chips.

9th goes out, and its 5am. We all decide to take $1600 each, and leave $1k for the top 4 tp split again. I go crazy, as im tired and about 5/8 in chips. Lose AK vs A7 all in, meh, then J3 vs A2, meh, then to go out AK vs QTs, who flops a straight.

So all in all i played awesomer!!!! And a nice $1600 to start the day.

And as a final note - ill be back posting regularly in about 2 weeks, been damn busy here.
