Bah, I suppose for $20 I can give up my lurkerness (new word?).
I've been wanted to get into playing some online poker for a while now. I play the occasional home game here and there, but nothing serious. However, I do have an obsessive-compulsive personality, and usually spend more time reading and studying anything I do moreso than actually doing it (hence my lurking here for so long). Perhaps I need a little kickstart to get playing *nudge nudge*.
While I'm certainly not a 'great' player, I can pretty much count on cleaning up on anyone who's bad, new, drunk, high, or just not taking the game seriously. I bring my chips to any weekend party trip to the cottage, and have my beer paid for by the end. I'm patient, understand the basic strategies, and can pick up on the typical 'newbie' tells. Against anyone who really knows what they're doing though... I'd have to rely more on a good run of luck.
Something I've wanted to do for a while is learn how to play some limit hold-em, well enough to hopefully break even with some low-level online play. I was bored one day, and bought Helmuth's book, but wasn't all that impressed with it. If someone could recommend a good book, it'd be much appreciated.
Cheers,
~Chris
Edit: Awwe, why no animated avatars? I can't frequent a forum without my favourite! :P
