In games like basketball there is a line, for example Dallas is a 4.5 pt favorite over Miami, so Dallas has to win by 5 points or more if you bet on them. If they win by 3 you lose.
In baseball there are no lines. (well there are 1.5 run lines...but those generally arent used) Since one team is better than the other team and all they have to do is win (by any amount) you have to risk more money on a favorite.
For example if the Tigers were to play the Royals at home. You couldn't just risk $100 to win $100 on the Tigers -- or everyone would take the bet, since the Tigers are one of the best teams in MLB right now and the Royals are one of the worst.
Thats why they'll set up the line like -200 for example. Meaning you need to risk 200 to win 100
If you take the royals you'd get + money. In the Dodger game they are getting +135, meaning for every 100 you risk you win 135 because the Mets are favorite
