At the risk of sounding like a complete NOOB......

Can someone please explain to me in plain english, exactly what pot odds are and how to figure them out???

Also, I read a bit somewhere about pot odds, and implied odds. What the hell is that??? Usually when I read online about this kind of stuff, or even see it on this site, I just smile and nod as though I understand what's going on. But I've put my pride aside and decided to finally ask!!
