Without knowing your game or limit:
Aces with a random card under 9 are folded 99% of the time, with the one percent being in the small blind or with a chance to steal the blinds. You gotta get away from AX offsuit, especially if you're playing no limit.
I used to play any Ace suited in early position, but my stats after 10k hands show me I shouldn't play them early unless the off card is decent (6 or higher). You can play any AX suited if you have 5-6 or more in before you. You need to make sure that when the odds "let you hit big" that you're going to get paid.
In 2/4, I'm folding anything under 77 in early position. I like to play these the same way as those ace suited. With people in the pot so when I hit my 1 out of 8 and get a set, I'll get paid.
ps. I know this last paragraph contradicts some past posts of mine, but don't throw a link in my face. Statistical analysis has proven me wrong and I've changed that aspect of my game.
