I'm a bit surprised more people haven't tried this out. While it's mathematically +EV for me to offer this (obv), the "implied" edge it gives the player is hard to quantify, but it could be HUGE.

Forget about the times that you end up cashing for the bottom spot instead of bubbling.... but think about how your play will change once YOU are ITM on the real bubble and your opponents don't know it. You should be able to take advantage of that and REALLY build a stack, giving you a chance to get deep instead of focusing on making the money first and THEN ramping up your game, when you lose your edge.

I personally think that edge for the player makes up for the -EV of the cost of the insurance itself (for the times you won't even reach the bubble). Hopefully some more pople will try it out.
