Jeter 15 errors, Range factor 4.14, Zone rating .810
Gonzalez 7 errors, RF 4.36, ZR .863

Jeter has a range factor below the average of AL shortstops (I believe Tejada's was tops). I mentioned Cabrara before checking the stats. He had a below average year.

Anyone who watched enough of both Jeter and A-Gon can clearly see Gonzalez is the best fielding ss in the AL, probably in all of MLB. Even if you adjust Gonzalez' errors to reflect an equal number of total chances, his adjusted error total is 9.5.

Take out 2005 from career stats and Jeter is an better than average fielding shortstop with below average range.

I don't want to be a conspiarcy theorist here, but if the gold glove isn't gifted to Jeter, the NY press has to be going ballistic about 2 guys in the Yankee infield playing out of position.

Not even close. A-Gon got robbed.
