Party gets even sweeter
Email I just got. This account is just a month old and I've logged between 10-11k hands during that month. I like it, just need to figure out how long it will take me to bank 1,000 points.
Dear Me, This VIP-ONLY PartyPoints offer is hopefully something you wanted and like nothing you’ve seen before. This is the ‘Acceler-8-tor’ promotion, running for eight consecutive weeks, where you can DOUBLE how much you can win each week – with even MORE bonuses at the end of the promotion! Here’s How: For each of the eight weeks we will set you a regular PartyPoints weekly target. Starting When: Wednesday, February 8, 2006; 00:00 a.m. (ET) to Tuesday, April 4, 2006; 11:59 p.m. (ET). Your regular points target, which will remain the same each week, is: 900 regular party points. All you have to do is reach this target by the end of each week of the promotion (Tuesday, 11:59 p.m. (ET) and we will redeem your points and give you a bonus of USD 80! That’s not all! For every additional 10% you earn above your regular PartyPoints target, we will give you an additional 10% bonus. This rises in 10% increments up to 100% (double!) your original target. So if you earn double your target in regular points, you will earn double your bonus! For example (based on a target of 1,000 points with a bonus of USD 80): Points Earned / Bonus Earned (Dollars) 1,000 / 80 1,099 points / 80 1,100 points / 88 Additional 10%! 2,000 points / 160 Additional 100%! As an extra incentive, you get an extra bonus which will increase each week that you meet your points target! For example (based on your base regular points target): No. of Weeks Target Is Hit 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 EXTRA Bonus Payout $5 $10 $20 $40 $80 $160 $320 So login today and start earning points. You can win up to 20 times your weekly bonus over an eight week period! We would love to get your feedback on our recent promotions so that we can serve you better in the future. Please feel free to drop us a line here: We do listen! Sincerely, The VIP Team

You have to "opt in" somewhere on the "my account" page. You are not automatically enrolled in the points program. This is a "VIP-only" promotion. Everyone gets a different offer. People who've been playing on their accounts for a while have been gettting points bonuses for a few months.
In my case, this is my invitation to the club, I guess. Usually, you have to enquire at the email addy from my letter to get "VIP" offers.

Interesting, very interesting. You know who REALLY needs a "new" Party account?
I need to think about this some... |

I'm impressed
This is a very strong, competitive offer. And excellent timing, given the 6-max challenge you guys are in the midst of.
Combine this with Party Points that might actually be worth something (store is still closed, but any day now), plus the usual Party attractions (a zillion games at all levels, plentiful fish and … well, I guess that it, but those are two good ones!) and they could well take back some of the momentum Stars had been gaining with its VIP program and superior customer service. It will be very interesting to see what happens when the WSOP rolls around. In the past, Stars has come as any site can to owning the event, and attracted a huge volume of players in the process. What if anything will Party do to counter? |

More thoughts on this …
After wading through 2+2, it looks like Pshabi's offer was one of the best. Other players have the chance to earn much more cash, but the number of points required would require playing multiple tables of 5/10 and up for 30+ plus hours a week, which basically rules out anybody but full-time online pros.
Not surprisingly, your target is based on how much you've played previously. While it's clear why Party would do this, it does screw some of their fairly high-volume players, who basically would have to go full time to hit their bonus, while the lower end of VIP spectrum have more realistic targets to hit. Looking at it this way, Party is in effect punishing their biggest customers. And of course, if you are not VIP, you get nothing. If Party gave me a lower-tier offer – say 300 points and a $20 offer (1/3rd the number of hands and ¼ the bonus Pshabi received), I'd jump on it. |
