Well I have decided that 5/10 is too tought for me and have slunk back to 3/6. Look me up if you want. I think the variance or the bad beats or whatever just sent me on a tilt. I did not play poorly (I don't think), I just got beat. I lost a nice chunk of bankroll and am going to have build it back up.

Alot of people have mentioned the variance in lower levels, but I have rarely seen that. I have had down weeks, but basically there are enough bad players to make it hard to hit variance. Just my take. In 5/10 I would not say they players are any better pre-flop. They suck. I mean any A high is in every hand! Even against major raises! 2nd Pair! To the river James! Not sure why I can not crack this level. I do not know what it is. I do know it has set me off too much so I am quitting for a while. I am going to build the bankroll back up to a level beyond what I need for 5/10 and take a crack at it again around 4-5K. Wish me luck! |

I generally don't invade privacy with questions like this but what was the bankroll you went to 5/10 with? How much did you lose before you said, "bon voyage" and what do you feel I should have before I move to 3/6 from 2/4, where I am now?

If you would rather be private, send me a PM. Thanks, Phil |

I think talking is good. Helps me work through things. I started with a Bankroll of 3K, I worked it up to a high point of 3600 at 5/10, and brought it back to a little under 2K. I played a little 3/6 and brought it back over 2K. So I guess in general I lost 4-Buyins before I decided to move back. It was a combination of not having the bankroll anymore and not feeling like I was making it at 5/10 that made me decide to move back, in addition to feeling like 5/10 was driving me CRAZY! I think it is a good move for now.

I wonder if going back down to 3/6 will loosen you up at that level? That always happens to me, initially - yet another weakness in my game.

Too bad you didn't get the results you were looking for. G'luck.

No shame in going back to 3/6, the idea is to make money reguardless of how you do it. Good luck building that roll back up.

I am not ashamed of moving back down. It is the right move. I am a little dissapointed. I think in a few weeks I will have a better perspective on it. It is always good to get your feet wet and see how things are. I think I will be more prepared when I am ready to go back up whenever that might be. Thanks for the support!

I think that you should play where the money is. If you can make as much at the 5/10 tables as you do at the 3/6 then you should play. However i wouldn't think twice at stayin at the 3/6 if it is paying you consistently.

Is there a cutoff point where you think the level of play drastically improves? Is it all basically the same until you get to 5/10 etc.??

If by "loosen" you mean play better and more correctly because the money is not scary, yeah, I think it will. If you mean reducing calling standards, etc.. then no. I really feel like I smash 3/6 when I play it, now more than ever. I would not be surprised to get my bankroll back over 3K by the end of the week although I am not going to chase that. I will let you guys know. Thanks for the support.
