Is it me or are more players getting dumber.
I've ran into this situation at least 4 times in the last two days. Top 3 pays. 4 Players left. One is extremely short stacked. Short stacks goes all in, I'm in the SB and flat call, and the BB checks. Flops all garbage, so I check....then the BB will bet hard into the pot. I have nothing...so fold. Only to see that the BB also has nothing and letting the short stack triple up. I don't understand why so many players continue to bet in this situation when A) Increase the chances of making the money B) Even if you get me to fold, you might and most often don't have the SS guy beat C) You show your 'bluff' and how retarded you are. I wouldn't care so much if it didn't keep costing me money with the results. I just find some of these plays just really annoying |

![]() totally agree with this, don't see why you would bet someone out instead of just checking it through to eliminate someone. |

I agree. Daniel Negreanu has written about this before, it's called bluffing into a dry sidepot. He hates it as well for obvious reasons.

in the unwritten rules of poker your never suppose to bluff in a sidepot where a short stack is allin like that.
That pisses me off so much. Alot of people that play dont understand this and think they are gaining something by doing this. |

It makes me crazy.
I got into a huge argument at a home game with a guy one time who bluffed me off a winning hand (on the bubble) with his 5 high. Yes, 5 high. No hand and no draw, and the person we had all in took down the pot. His logic was that he wanted to get me out and then hopefully hit his 4 or his 5 and then have it be enough to win the main pot too. Moron. |

what if you have something like AK and the flop is three rags? You could 'bluff' at the pot - you might even get the limper to fold something like bottom pair (i would fold bottom pair to a big bet thinking 'If this guy is betting in this situation he must be strong!'). Then your AK is heads up with the guy who went all-in. He might have moved all-in with two paint cards - now you are favorite to win the hand.
