ok ive been reading through Doyle's book and he loves to run the connected suiters and just the connected cards. He is in love with J-10, well I won $1.00 in a freeroll on noble poker (im rich now) and ive started playing .02/.04 with it and im up to 3.35 by taking his advice and running those kinda hands for a bet. So the quesion I ask you my fellow poker experts is when is it good to chase, all books have different opinions so I want yours. I know you need as many people in pot as posible to pay you off , which is not hard to do playing .02/.04 but when do you chase?

well the best times to chase these are actually when there is a reasonable raise in front of you (he tells you that actually JTs he doesnt like as much as something like 67s because chances are likely any cards that help you completely miss your opponent). he said he'll call off about 10% of his hand preflop, and if he misses completely get out. catching a pair with a straight draw, flush draw, etc he'll push depending on the situation. i've found that i can really crack people when i catch with the connectors, just take them as they are -- drawing hands. don't get too involved before the flop (really about 15% is the max i will go with connectors) and don't try and bluff at a pot with them.

![]() actully he says he like JT because it makes 4 nut straights, its the only 2 connectors that do this. |

I'd guess that playing .02/04, it make sense to play J-10 because players are going to call, call, call, virtually gauranteeing you pot odds to chase the straight. But you could well run into trouble if you try and take that strategy to higher limits, as you will likely have fewer callers and they are going to make you pay for chasing it.

One thing I feel the need to add here....
Doyle is talking about NL.... not limit. You are aware of this, right? |

![]() yes very aware of that, in limit he basicly says go in with the best, I still like to play the connectors if I can get in for 1 bet there easy to lay down if I dont flop a open ended or a made hand. |

Actually, Doyle doesn't say anything on limit, it's Bobby Baldwin.
You better make sure that when you're going in with j10 that you're in late position, with 4 callers minimum, without a raise. You shouldn't be calling with those in mid to early because you may not get enough players in or you may get raised. If you don't have enough people in the pot, you shouldn't be calling, even if it's for one bet. I dont' care what your session memory tells you, you will lose money in the long run if the pot odds aren't big enough. |

![]() When playing NL if you have KJ hearts and say the flop is Q107 with 2 hearts i have absolutely no problem raising this hand and or putting another player all-in( cash games) even if your behind your the favorite against most hands that would be betting.

![]() well you have 17 outs to make your hand you should raise that, and if the 10 and queen are of hearts you have the royal flush draw which could win you extra money....yippie. |
