Default Awesome Ivey prop bet rumor ...

From Pauly's blog

"Phil Ivey who has so many prop bets that it's hard to keep up. There's the $2 million bet (at 5-1 odds) that he'd win a bracelet this year, and I found out on Day 3 about another bet specifically about a $30,000 bet that he made where he was getting 10-1 odds that he's win the HORSE event. If my math is correct... had Ivey won HORSE, he would have collected $10,300,000 in prop bets."

Even for an amount I could afford, there's no way in hell I'd give 5-1 against Ivey winning a bracelet. 3-1 maybe. Maybe.

I wonder who put up the $2 million.

Default That's not the question ...

If I'm understanding this correctly, it's Ivey who put up the $2 million, betting someone (or a group more likely) that he won't win a bracelet, and getting five to one odds. So the question is not who put up the $2 million -- it's who will put up the $10 million if he does!

He has a 200k bet with Lindgren that he can't walk 4 rounds and shoot under a 100 on each in 1 day. Lindgren shot sub 90's on the 1st 2 and was at 45 or 46 after the 1st 9 on the 3rd round. This is a pretty good prop bet. Doubt I could do it.

Ivey does all these props bets because playing tournament poker is boring to him and he has to keep it interesting somehow. if he didnt do all these prop bets, he would probable not even play most events during the WSOP and just play the cash games.

Another prop bet that occurred yesterday (from what I can tell)....

Erick Lindgren had 100k prop bet with Gavin Smith. He would play 4 rounds, carry his own clubs, shoot under 100 in every round in 24 hours or less. Phil Ivey heard about the bet and wanted action on it and took 200k and Erick accepted and also took more action for a total of about 340k. Erick normally shoots around high 80s. The course was over 7000 yds. And this is in vegas.

Ivey was seen on FTP saying something like, I don't care if he wins...as long as he suffers. Erick went on to win the prop bet. Details on 2+2 NVG.
