Did he have A7? I thought he had A3.... Yeah, I'm pretty sure his kicker was the undercard to the straight and he needed a 7 to split. He was drawing pretty slim.

I couldn't have folded to the turn raise (reraise?), but I wouldn't have pushed in over the top either. That was a good spot to just call. On the river, he could call a reasonable bet and at least have SOME chips left or he could fold if he didn't imporve and still be in decent shape.

Keep in mind though, this is from an outsider's point of view. It was something like 6 or 7 AM when this happened and this was after 8ish full days of poker. While I don't think it was the best play, I certainly can't fault him for making the play he made, especially considering the circumstances.

you are right, it as A3, not A7.

still, i dont mind his play, although there were better ways to play it.

i dont think that the time factor can be underemphasized. i hadnt realized that it was so late/early when the final table ended, and i dont think that any of the players had a clear head at that point in time.

just imagine if scotty nguyen, john hennigan and men nguyen were playing at that table. considering that they all drink while they play, i would assume that they would have been a blast to play against orobserve.

my favorite part of the final table was when matusow flopped that set of kings against the aces. the funny thing is mike went around sceeaming and then this guy comes out from the crowd to high five mike but mike just looks at him and turns around and ignores him...LOL the rest was quite boring though so i didn't watch all of it
