You can get away with raising less in the tourney, maybe to 10xBB, but the cash game its 12xBB+1bb per extra limper every single time. Anything less and you risk giving odds for lower PPs to call and flop a set.

See... when I raise to even 8 or 9 BBs in a tourney, MOST of the time, my opponent throws their hand away... hence me thinking I may be leaving money on the table.
When you raise 12x, aren't you basically turning your cards face up? |

I'm certinaly not. My reraising range is a hell of a lot bigger than AA, KK, or AK.

Exactly, and If yours isnt, you are doing yourself a great disservice. 3 bet light, and get alot more calls when you do have AA.

In general Id reraise (90% of the time sounds good) and Id triple his bet usually (assuming its a standard raise). So 9x BB or so sounds right.
In a cash game, Id likely triple his bet as well (itd be a little bigger, bc cash game raises r more than 3x BB, so it could be anywhere from 12x-24x BB depending on the open) If several people have called this raise already, I reraise 100% of the time, and I make it larger, adjusting for my callers

In tourneys and full ring games as well, or just 6-max?

Mostly 6max, although in tourneys, the resteal with trash is a powerful weapon.
Full ring is for campers, so I really have no clue. Ask Aeq

Have you significantly changed your style recently? I'm sure you've described yourself as "weak/tight" more than once... and while I'm sure that was an exaggeration, I never pegged you as a super aggro until very recently.

I've changed my style since I watched some of the cardrunners videos. I'm not a crazy maniac, but I play at least 30/20 at 6 max tables.

Really? So seriously - how much has CardRunners improved your bottom line? Sounds like potentially a LOT.
When I get back in town next week, I'm gonna give that site a whirl. Sounds like it's been pretty damn helpful to everyone who has touched it so far. |

Player and position dependent. Playing a standard shorthanded table when the pot is HU, if my opponent is aggressive preflop, I'll repop with him 66+, AJ+, KJ+, and some suited connectors if I've been quiet for a while. In the blinds, my reraising range becomes bigger since it is harder to play out of position. If I'm playing the hand from the blinds, I'm reraising them (so any pair, lots of suited connectors, broadway cards). If he's more passive, I'll lessen it to 99+, AJ+, and exclude KK and AA some percentage of the time if I haven't been splashing around in pots.
Multiway (original raiser + at least one caller), I lessen my reraising range to exclude the medium to small pairs, and reraise with suited connectors only about 25% of the time while calling the rest. Last edited by Boobie Lover; 08-23-06 at 12:20 AM. |
