Live play vs. internet play

I played live once for pennys with a few friends for fun (not poker players). It was really difficult for me. I had the hardest time hiding my glee when i got a good hand. The more I tried to not smile, the more I smiled .

I like them both pretty much the same..... I have not been in any live cash games yet.. only free tourneys at local bars...( i just hate having to travel, play for hours, and maybe not win ).

I'm a a more consistant winner at the live tourneys than I am online.. but, I have poker tracker now, so, that will change relatively soon, I'm sure... oh, I've got the book, Theory of Poker as well.

I like having the chips and the cards in my hands.... it suprises me, each and every time, no mattre what mood I may be in, sad, happy, drunk, angry, bewildered, tilted, confused, whatever... but, the anticipation of peeling up the corner of my first card, then my second... and it doesn't even mattre what they are.. it is just so exciting to me... always has been, and still is...just sumtin about wondering if 'are these "my" two cards.. are these the cards I've been waiting on... heh.. sounds silly.. oh well, so be it then.

When I play in a live tourney I like that more than playing online. Only exception is when the play is so slow. However I like to play online a lot more since it is so easy and there is also a game if that makes sense. I also don't like to drive that far for a game since if i don't win it will be a looooong drive home.

My profit rate is higher online. This should always be the case, as you do not have to tip dealers/cocktail waitresses. And the quality of play at the 3/6 game at my local card room is far, far better than the 2/4 game on Party.

But for all of the advantages of online play – the convenience, the fact that my living room is non-smoking, etc. – I still don’t count it as REAL poker. Unless I’m holding cards and have to meet my opponents eye, it is at a best a facsimile of the real game, kind of like arena football.

I win more online, but I think it's just because the guys I play a regular game with are all solid players.

well my profit is more in live play dont think you can say it should be higher online thats a opinion not a fact.

Actually, it is a fact. If you are a winning player at a particular limit, online poker allows you to not only play more hands at a single table, but you have the opportunity to multi-table as well. Even if you don't multi-table, you are still saving money from tips along with the decreased rake. Using the "more-hands" logic, you would ultimately win more BB/hour.
