So the last couple visits to the local B&M made me realize something...
If you take someones money, they are willing to do a lot to get it back. The following happened a few days ago: 1-2 NL table, 100$ buyin. After about 3 hours I had singlehandedly broken one player in a few hands and decide to leave. I announce to the table that im out, just enough daylight to get 18 holes of golf in. The guy jumps up and asks me if I have an extra set of clubs, hed like to win his money back. I didnt, but offered him he could use mine, and of course, being a scratch golfer, the guy didnt stand a chance (really, unless youre making a living off of playing golf, I know I can beat you consistently). He ended up losing 100$ to me at the poker table, then another 140$ playing 10$ a hole. Ever since then, I realized if I drop the right hints to the right people I could pick up a nice extra income to the poker by getting people to bet me for golf. Problem I see is this though: A) How do I entice people to give me action on the course? B) How long until I will completely stop getting action from these people? Should I play below my abilities to continue getting this kind of action? C) What are the chances I run into someone who can consistently shoot under par golf and cleans me out on these bets? D) Should I worry about the ethics of this kind of bet (knowing Im very VERY likely to make money off any match) Last edited by Defendant; 08-09-05 at 02:21 AM. |
