Default So close to the WSOP, but....

I was helping my friend out during a tourney for the WSOP. It was a freeroll tourney for players that play certain amount of hands. So basically 104 people entered....and a few of them never showed....I guess they never knew they were in it.

Anyways, I helped him to get to heads up. He was pretty short stacked. About 3 or 4 to 1 down in chips (~ 25k vs 100k in chips or so). The blinds were 1500/3000. Then this hand happens:

He's dealt k5 diamonds in the BB (first to act after the flop).

They both flat call. The board gives Qd 3d 7c. He bets out 5000, into a 6k pot. Other player min raises to 10k. Called. Turn was a 6h.

With another 13k or so in front of you....what do you do in this situation?

he shouldnt have bet out on the flop in 1st position... if youre going to semibluff you might as well make it look like you have a legitimate hand. plus if you bet 5k, you're comitted to go all the way with the hand considering his stack. from the way he played the hand it looks like theres no way he would fold that flop unless the other guy simply moved in.... if you put all your money in on this flop you might as well give yourself a little greater chance of winning by check/raising, instead of betting out.

great point... you were pot commited with the flop raise, so you figure the only way you're taking it down there should be check raise all-in...or simply check and try to hit a diamond.
