Default Another cracked Aces story, but WTF?

$2/$4 limit holdem I get AA under the gun and raise (the correct thing to do here) get called by the guy to my immediate left and one other player plus the BB, flop is A-4-5, BB checks I bet, guy to my left calls, other 2 players fold, 8 on the turn, I bet and get called, river 9, bet and get raised, WTF could he have, WHAT COULD HE HAVE, did he chase a pair of 9' and catch a set, HOPE SO cause I got my own set and they trump his for sure, the betting gets capped and sure enough he turn over 2-3 for a wheel?!?!?!?!?!?!? I know it's low limit, I know people suck, I know he'll pay me off later, but 2-3 in early position against an UTG raise?????

I'm still steaming about this one.......

nothing you can do

just reaffrim yourself with a stuart smalley style talk.

just curious, why did you take the time to say that it was the right move to raise with aces? isnt that fairly obvious here?

edit: i dont like to slowplay aces, or get too cute with them. i generally push hard with them. with the propensity of a number of players to check raise with aces now, i find that people dont always even put me on aces, because i played them fast.

Because I have been argued on-line and by players in my home game that you should slow play aces pre-flop, to which I say BULLSHIT, if for no other reason except to not give the BB a free look at the flop which may come back to haunt you later. If I just call and the BB flops a straight with 2-3 then thats my own fault, so I NEVER let that happen.

LMFAO.

That really is terrible, the guy is playing 2-3, wow. What was he hoping for, a pair of 3s and a 2 on the flop?

Take note and catch him later, he likely takes every flop.

We have all had Aces ruined by a straight, that part is not so bad, but every time I take a bad beat I honestly try to see if there was any way to see it coming. I think we would all be better players if we tried to see why we lost instead of just bitching about it. In this case I really don't think Nostradamus could have seen in coming.

I guess you haven't ever flopped the nut straight, but then got beat by runner runner making quads.

THAT, sir, was a bad beat.

That's why I hate limit - you cannot raise enough to get people off crappy cards. In NL, you could have bet 3 to 4 times the BB and got that guy to fold.

See, I don't know about that, if you call in very early position against a UTG raise I think you would play it no matter what.
