Default 10/20 NL on Stars

I've been watching a 10/20 NL table on stars for about an hour now. I couldn't believe how loose the play was at this table. Preflop all in called by KQoff. All in bluff on the river called by 2nd pair. I was amazed at the play. All in for 4000 with J hi flush called by nut flush. Any of the big rollers who play those table ever seen anything like that?

You need brass balls to play at those tables.

I dont have (or have anywhere close to) the roll to properly sit down at that table... but I viewed it a while back as well, and was amazed by some of the play... I wanted to sit down with a chunk and take a shot.... I think in these big stakes, especially when you arent known, people don't give you credit.

For example at the poker room I usually go to, I play the 1/2 NL tables most, 250 max buy in, standard raise 15ish.

One night I had a very good session and had over 1500 dollars in front of me... one of the dealers asked why I wasn't playing 5/5 NL (1000 max buy in, standard raise 30ish). He told me if no one knew me I'd get called down very often and probably make a bundle... maybe thats part of it, because there is so much bluffing, aggression etc being shown, people tend to value their hands stronger (kind of like in a HU match)

I've still yet to venture higher than 3/6

The way a winning player plays on that level is different than a winning player would play at a lower table. If you think you could beat it, by all means you should go to the room and show the "donks" how to play.

thanks mike, my point on those two hands were that a guy went all in on the river with nothing. I agree the call was amazing. The second hand, the other guy in the hand had been showing strength the entire hand and I think it was a very easy hand to check on the river to the other guy(possible FH, 4 to a flush on board) and possibly fold when the other guy bet.

These games are filled with regulars who probably have countless notes and stats on their opponents. It is foolish to just look at two hands and say they are filled with donkeys.

Probably not for them.

When I started playing baby stakes, losing $25 would sting. I would lose sleep on it.

Now, I drop $500 in a night.

It's all relative.

The thing to remember as Pshabi already touched on is that it IS all relative...
These guys have large bankrolls...
Since these are cash games, then they are correct in pushing any edge they believe they have... no matter how small.

It would be kinda neat to play comfortably in those games though wouldn't it?
