Default Losing Hurts

Thought I would post some thoughts of mine after losing in a MTT. The strange thing is that this cost me nothing and as a player who plays many MTTs should really mean little, but it has really shook me up today and Ive been more annoyed with my play than usual.

I suppose everyone at some time has finished on the bubble, The feeling is crap and you analise your last hands and know were you went wrong. I was playing in a 40fpp rebuy to Saturdays 4000fpp final wsop tournament were 3 seats are up for grabs.

Ive been looking forward to playing in some Sats to the WSOP and entered this last night with 636 players. I bought 2000 chips for 80fpp and withing 5min was allin with A-A against A-4os and again just before the 30min break allin with a set 8s against A-8.
So at the break I topped up 1500 to hold 9000 chips and had used 120fpp.

Over the next 1.5 hours I built a stack to 70.000 and was sitting in 12th with 24 players left and 18 to qualify. I had played 8 very strong hands to showdown and won everyone and was playing ultra tight but very agressive.

Then the doubts crept in and the thoughts that Ive done enough, the blinds were 6-12k and the bb had just passed me, I can cruise in from here I thought and as another 2 players were eliminated and 22 were left I was dealt A-K and raised the 12k to 36k only to be re-raised allin by both the SB and the BB, After considering (what I was considering at this stage) I folded. And they both shared my chips after showing A-Q each to a board of K-8-8-K-4.

The tournament went to hand to hand, and the blinds were very soon heading to me. Then with around 13k left I was dealt 6-6 sitting in 18th out of the 19 remaining players.

On the other tbl the player in 19th was allin and was called by 2 other players, my clock was running and the other table were taking time to bet against each other and one had called time. I folded and watched ashamed of my play as the guy in 19th turned A-A and hit a FH. Then in shock as 6-6 showed on the flop of my own table.

I went out next hand after being placed automatically allin with 8-2os. and called and checked down by 3 of the table players.

I guess theres nothng more I can say, I played the final hands like a muppet, and I probably missed a good shot at a WSOP seat.

It cost nothing I know but its really got to me.

If it makes you feel any better, finishing in the Top 3 of the next tourney wouldn't exactly have been easy, so you probably saved yourself some time and frustration anyway.

bubbling in a sat is probably one of the worst feelings you can experience.
