This is why I think limit is the way to go. To blow 3 buyins, you would really have to be running cold, or donking away. Maybe its strictly less variance in limit vs. nl but either way the mental and actual hit you can take in nl is tough.[/quote]

It started with KK getting cracked by some clown with Q7o and catching a third 7 on the turn. I should point out that I pushed with the KK, 5xBB preflop raise, on a rags flop I pushed a 1.2Xpot bet, and this clown called with his middle pair. So there is one buy-in gone, the other two were donked away before I could extract myself from the situation. First big tilt I have ever experienced. I wasn't drunk, just not in the right frame of mind.

Yeah, the mental and bankroll hit you suffer in NL is tough, but isn't that what makes the game attractive?

To me, yes. The NL game has a higher variance than its limit counterpart. If you can wrap your head around that, understand that you will lose your entire stack on occassion to 1 or 2 outers, then you can succeed at it.

Personally, that's the only type of poker I like to play. The decision space in NL is much broader and each decision has larger consequences than those same decisions in limit.

I've managed to do quite well the past 2 years at NL ring games. It's my bread and butter so to speak.

I def. win most my money playin 6 max NL .50/1 and $1/2 right now

I play in small buy-in tournies and $10 SNG's right now
The SNG's are a way to make pretty consistant money - but its not alot

cash games is def. the way to go.
