Default When to float

As I understand it, floating is when you call a postflop bet in position with the idea of taking the pot later. Generally this would mean calling a flop bet with nothing from a player who CBs 100% of the time, with the hope that they check the turn and you can take it from them then.

Currently as I consider myself to be still learning the fundamentals, I never float. I generally CB myself 80-90% of the time if I was the preflop aggressor, and am on a raise/fold based on whether I hit my hand if I was not the preflop aggressor (unless I have a draw and pot odds/implied odds necessitate a call).

Should I not worry about the float move until I feel more comfortable doing what I'm currently doing, or is it an easy money-maker move I should add to my arsenal? Should I even worry about it at all in NL25 full ring, or is it unprofitable? What are some situations where it is useful and/or used a lot?

Thanks!

like zybomb says, don't even worry about advanced poker techniques until you reach something that involves thinking players, especially floating. Basically I think all you should be advancing in at this level is thinly value betting (aka hand reading) since people don't fold.

This is a very good point. I'm a 25 max guy, and the last 2 months have been horrible. I know that getting fancy and forgetting ABC poker is a big part of it.
