Default Advise for first time WSOP player

Hey,

I have a good friend who is going to play in opening event of WSOP. He has had a good run online, and is taking the plunge. It is a $1500 NLHE, the one that Scott Fischman won last year (with a massive runner runner suckout to stay alive by the way, I'm sure most of you remember). Supposedly they are expecting about 2200 players in this event!! Unreal.
He is a good player, solid, but not spectacular by any means. In fact he rarely wins the weekly game he hosts (but that doesnt mean much, its a minefield). I think we are similar players, and actually do better against better competition. But this event will have tons of sharks, as well as rank amatuer meatheads. Anyone who has played in WSOP events, or has any good insight, what advise would you give to him? The only thing I am going to tell him is that he does occasionally rub his nose/face and exhale through nose when he has a good hand!! (I will wait a few more weeks though lol)
thanks

It oging to be hard for us to point out your buddy's tells, having never played with him before

Tell him to play solid poker and stay patient. In my experience the biggest problem online players have playing in big live events is that they aren't patient enough. The blinds increase slowly, and there is plenty of time to accumulate chips.

Play small pots, avoid big ones. Avoid calling all-in with anything but an extremely strong hand.

being patient is definitely the best advice for the WSOP blind structure... oh and make sure you demand a move if phil ivey is at your opening table.

ya with slow blind structur, patience is a virtue!! And I would obviously not expect yuo to know his tells, lol. This may be a stupid question, but can you actually request to be moved from a table? Or is it very strict, you go where they move you and thats that?

You go where they tell you - just like playing online.

No, sir. I'm not going out until just before the Main Event. I plan on taking down the Media/Celebrity charity event this year. I finished 14th last year (out of nearly 200). Funny story too.... When I sat down, Norm MacDonald was on my left and Elvis was on my right. Sheesh - tough table!
