Aston Villa v Odense BK

This is the second leg of the Intertoto Cup, it's at Villa Park and kick off is around 5.15pm UK time.

I hope Villa play better than they did in the first leg, we went 1 up then they equalised by a own goal (steve sidwell), then we got a second and they equalised again. We need to get into the uefa cup as a club as big as Villa need to be playing european opposition.

Also our want away ex-captain Gareth Barry may play, dont know what affect this will have on the team, he is a excellent player and I would be happy if he stayed but it probably wont happen.

C'Mon the VILLA!

0-0 at half time, we are playing like rubbish and dont really deserve to win this. With aggregate thou 0-0 is enough for us to go through.

We had a horrific injury to Wilfred Bouma who has a double leg break, Gareth Barry came on for him after 15 mins.

Steve Sidwell is utter poo, he can't hold the ball.

As im typing we have just gone 1-0 up through Ashley Young, c'mon the Villa.

p.s. 30 mins before game started we signed the american goal keeper Brad Friedel from blackburn on a three year deal. We also are waiting on a hearing to see if another american goal keeper Brad Guzan from Chivas USA will get a work permit to play for us.

finished 1-0 to us and we are through to the 2nd qualifying round of the uefa cup.

We played better in the second half but not great, the opposition wasnt exactly a top side so i guess the players from villa thought they could take it easy. Gareth Barry played good and Ashley Young was a star.

Mr Randy Lerner (he owns villa and the cleveland browns) needs to stick his hand in his huge pockets and buy us some more players.

congrats on the victory. And congrats on Friedel signing, you all need some stability in the net and he has consistently been one of the top 4 goalkeepers in the Premier league for 6 years or so. He is great, but the fake British accent is a bit much for a guy from Cleveland.

didnt relise he was from cleveland, no wonder randy lerner was so keen to buy him, he is good and thats clear but at 37 how long can he keep up top level play, guess that's why we brought guzan aswell.

I suspect that Friedel is for the current season only. If Guzan gets a permit, he probably will do a year loan to get first team action and adjusted to the league, and then be your #1 for the 09 campaign. IMO Guzan will be better than Friedel, the kid is just great. He isn't the quickest, but his positioning is just so good.

I have heard good things about Guzan so will be interesting to see how he copes in the premier league. All we need now is for Gareth Barry to stay and buy a couple decent defenders and we might actually be a good side.
