Default Bill Gazes call...

Did you guys see tonight's WSOP episode on ESPN (the Hold'Em one, not the Stud one)?

There was an interesting hand when they got down to 4 handed play. I don't remember exactly where the button was, but I'm almost sure the play went down like this:

Mark Seif folds UTG.
Player A ("A" stands for amateur) raises all in from the button.
Minh Nguyen reraises all in from the SB

Bill Gazes, in the BB, looks down and sees AKo. He has both of the all in players covered. He decides to call.

Player A shows TT. Minh shows JJ. Then Minh proceeds to say how horrible of a call it was. So my question is this - do you guys think this was a bad call? I actully think it was a good call. It wasn't a no brainer, but I think it was a good call. I'd like it more if it was suited, but four handed, I don't see how you can fold AK for better than 2:1 pot odds and a chance to eliminate 2 players and go into heads up play with a massive stack.

The flop came down JTx, of course (live poker is so rigged!), and neither Player A nor Gazes improved. Player A was eliminated and Gazes, down to very few chips, was knocked out the next hand.

So... what do you guys think? Call? Fold? Borderline?

Minh went all-in first, if it matters.

I like the call. He had them both covered, so if he loses, chances are still good that one of them still goes out. He's getting 2/1, and when it's 4-handed, you can't give either of them credit for KK or AA. Plus, Seif has a huge chip lead, and if he wants to win, this is the best way for him to have a chane to win.

Edit: Live poker is definitely rigged. I've only played once in a casino, but my KK just barely held up.

People always say online poker is rigged when they see big hands.... so I say the same thing about live poker. It's just as stupid.

I think if I was Gaze I would of def. gambled with this hand because if you lose you will be guaranteed to finished 3rd and if you win you will be HU with about 1.2 mill in chips vs Seif.

BTW: did anyone hear Devilfish call Raymer a calling machine LOL!

"Calling Station," actually. He was just steaming a little bit because Greg made a big call against him.

I knew what you meant... but "calling machine" doesn't sound like nearly as bad an insult as "calling station" does.

Ya, that kinda pissed me off, I thought devilfish would be so used to tourny's and big money and all that stuff he would be able to better control his emotions at the table. I think it was rude of him to call Raymer a "calling station" and was glad he got kncoked out soon afterward. After all, I think raymer made the absolute most money he could have made on that hand, plus it was a good call.

Raymer got more respect from me in 2 ways-

proving hes not all luck- Another WSOP final table
Keeping Calm - not saying a single thing back to devilfhish, and still getting up to shake his hand when he got knocked out.

lmfao, hilarious. I say it once in a while during a live game, "man, this site is rigged". It usually takes them a minute.
