Default stacked video game

I just got this other day and honestly I dont think its that bad, I know alot of people dont like it because they compare it to real thing. Of course it wont be that good but for a game I think its the best there is and the carrer mode is very cool.

anyone else play this yet?

Default way too tight

after playing this game awhile and listening to Daniels comments on how to play hands during the game think im playing way too tight.

like one hand I limped in with 5h7h about 3 after blinds, normally wouldnt even think about it but I guess there is times where you can limp in with those interesting hands. Well ended up flopping gutshot and flush draw and making it on turn when someone with set of queens was slowplaying.

we checked turn, (daniel told me to) and then on river he said push all in which I did and busted the set. Kinda learning alot playing this game, I dont think this will help the very experienced players like TP, shabi, jd and ZY. I know im leaving couple out but you get the idea, but think for new players this game would be good.

what game also does is show you how many MTT's you will lose before you hit the big one. Have played same tourney 4th time now and havent cashed yet but playing the hands correctly. I'm actully very glad I got this game, think it will be helpful since I think I wont be playing cash games 2 much.

he may not be tightest player but he does know exactly what he is doing with those 5-7 hands. Knows about his payoffs.

and if you only enter with premiem hands dont think you will be cashing that much. I mean in a tourney you only going to get those premiem hands once and awhile and when you get them everyone is going to know.

I dont know after playing for awhile think I had the wrong idea about tournies, I gotta play them more like over a time period and not expect to get deep in everyone by playing soo tight.

sounds like good time to do some tests.

but all in all the AI is very good, most AI poker games the AI never folds. I have gotten people off hands and watched the AI try to make moves. All I can say is Iam impressed

Uh yeah... I'd say that's a pretty significant boo-boo!

Sounds to me like the game isn't quite polished yet, which is surprising, considering how long it's been in development.

Are you telling us that you are just now realizing that you need to play non-premium hands in tourneys... thanks to a poker video game??? Do you even read any of the threads posted on this site?

knowing what to play and how to play it is two different things, yes I knew you had to play non premium hands but no I didnt really know HOW to play it.

I respect DN tourney play very much so getting the advice from him frop pre-flop to river detailing every street play is great.

I can see the appeal, but my advice would be to go read first. Then apply what you have learned and play your video game and see what Daniel says.

All the reviews I've read say the AI on this game is retarded and that DN's advice is suspect at best. I'll look for the link (it was a major video game mag) in which they said they were told to call a small preflop raise 63o. Also, I've heard it advocating flop peels w/ aboslutely hopeless hands on the flop.

Just some totally ridiculous errors.

very good idea and Harrington is another tourney player I respect alot, I havent read that book yet so think I will go pick it up sometime this week. I plan on totally getting off cash games all together because I dont think I have the disapline to beat them consistantly.

pretty much every bankroll I have had I have donkied away at the cash games on various sites. Even the ones I have built through tournies have been gone within a couple weeks playing stupid in cash games. At least this way once I buy in that is all I can spend.

Default what i think

I think all the bad reviews are comming from very good players because to them I dont think the game will be very good.

for players like myself that are boarderline average I think the game is good, like I said I dont think TP, Zy and yourself would gain anything from this game. You know all this stuff already and sometimes Daniel does mess up on a few hand like last tourney I played had 7k chips and someone raised my BB for like 220 chips and he said fold and I was like WHAT. I had rags but felt it was a instant call so I called and won. Other then the few instances he has been pretty dead on.

As for the AI sure it screws up once in awhile but in a whole its pretty decent.

yea but what he didnt say is what position he was in or what the chip stack was.

I agree the hand where he hit nothing on flop and he was told to call is pretty sick and must be glitch. On the hand where he told him to push all in he could of been in blind short stacked or something like that. Daniel has told me numerous times to push all in with hands like 6-9 but It had been folded to me and I was terribly chipstacked. I havent had him give me that kinda advice yet out of position or when I have alot of chips.

Im sure there are gonna be times in the game where the advice is wrong but no one tells the numerous times when the advice was actully solid. One time he gave me advice on a read he had on a player. Guy had been pushing all in over and over and Daniel told me to call him with middle pocket pair because he had been going in over and over. Thought that was pretty cool.

Now not trying to say this game is the greatest or anything I just thought it was solid poker game compared to others I have played.

Brian....... um...... you do realize "Daniel" isn't actually watching you play or giving you advice, right? I mean, you do know it's just a game with some built in (questionable) AI.... right?

Nah, that's ok.... you hold on to it.

Sorry if I've been any more anti-Brian than usual lately.... Call me crazy, but he's just been extra annoying ever since the "Crazies" vote that he oh so badly wanted to win.
