Default July Graphs / August Plans

July was a pretty wild month. I got to play in my first WSOP event, and although I didn't cash I came back strong the next day winning the day tournament at Binion's for over 700. OW finished itm at the same tournament.

Coming back from Vegas I ran hot online with an FT and a nice padding of the BR in ring games. I cooled off and ran pretty bad in the second half of the month, but kept on having fun as I began to get the hang of HORSE, just missing the money in a $5 tourney, after being chip leader for over and hour. The $2 HORSE sng's are proving profitable.

At the end of it all I am looking forward to my best month ever for rake back.

Hopefully I'll run better in August and manage an FT or 2(but hey, not everyone can be Stromswa). I'll be hosting a little homegame that will include some TPFers, who will then head on over to Caesars Windsor for a day tournament the next day.

The big goal for August is to get my first Ironman qualification. At 25 max, that can take a bit of work and definitely will be affected by how I run(BR management daily limits and all).

Tournament Relsults:

2008/07/01 Binion’s Casino (Las Vegas) No Limit Hold’em $52
1st of 47 for $735

2008/07/21 FullTilt #55552874, No Limit Hold’em (Knockout) $11
5th of 425 for $239.50 (includes 5 KO’s)

PT stuff...

Ing- your 6-max numbers look OK for nitty bastard like you, but your attempt steal should be something like 28-30%, if you are running at 19% for VP$IP. Seriously,

Yeah, seeing your positional stats would help, but I'll guess you aren't playing enough hands in LP (and may be playing too many from EP, believe it or not).

IMO, your VPIP is too close to your full ring VPIP, which tells me you aren't opening up your game enough.

It's not a shift that seems to be coming very naturally for me. I'll look at the numbers, but I think I'll spend the first half of the month back on FR.

Attempt to steal is way too low.

it is not terrible to play 19-20VP$IP at 6max in the µstakes. But your UTG VP$IP should be like 8% and your OTB steal attempt should be like 30% if you want to run at 18% for VP$IP.

Check out oldie but goodie thread.

When attempting to steal, are we talking about the blinds or a raised pot?

Realizing that there are a number of variables, how much do your cards factor into your decision to make a steal attempt?

The attempt to steal % is when it's folded to you in CO or BTN and you have an oppurtunity to raise. Cards do matter to some extent, but since you are (likely) going to be in position the rest of the hand, you should definitely be raising more than 20% of the hands there.
