This is the classic game. I've never really played this, but I know people like it. In fact, I don't even fully understand the rules.

Clear the tiles as fast as you can. You have to complete the game for it to submit your score, so choose carefully and don't get stuck.

Is this game extremely difficult to beat, or is it just me?

I feel like I'm playing it well and making the correct strategy decisions as I go along, but I end up screwing myself somehow the majority of the time.

Generally speaking, what's more valuable - Clearing tiles from higher rows that have tiles under them, or clearing bottom level tiles on rows that are much wider? Originally, I thought it was the former, then I thought it must be the latter, and now I think it depends how far along you are in the game.

But I really have no idea. Any Mahjong experts out there?

I play Mahjong all the time. I'm not the greatest, but I find the best way to consistently clear the board is to work on the very top row and very bottom row as much as possible. I try to use pieces from the upper levels to do this. One thing with Mahjong, not every puzzle is solveable and I'm not sure if the one we have here always generates a a solveable puzzle.

It seems you are our local Majong expert! Thanks for the tips.

I think I had literally only played the game once or twice ever until installing it here. And now I get mad when I can't beat it, because it seems like something I should be able to do.

Stupid addictive mahjong taking away from my penguin bashing time...

M guess is that it's either a truly random "shuffle," or it might even be strategically stacked against the player to make it possible to solve, but extremely difficult. From what I'm hearing, this is about as tough a version of mahjong as there is.

I've beat it twice now in I'll guess at least a dozen attempts.

Mahjong really does become easier the more you play it. Not that I want more competition, another quick tip. While clearing the tiles, watch out for traps. There are lots of times where tiles of the same type are next to each other and if they are not cleared right, it means you can't solve the puzzle. Also watch for alternating tiles. Where it will be for example: tile 1 next to tile 2 next to tile 1 next to tile 2. Again, if not removed properly, you've just cost yourself the game. That's what I find hard about this version of mahjong, usually you don't know what the traps are until you've tried the game once, but when you hit new game, it's a completely different board rather than the one you were just working on.

Edit: Forgot about another type of trap, where the same tile types are stacked on top of each other. These are the worse because I find these also lock up the game early on, but you don't find out until you only have about 6 or 8 tiles left.

I call shenanigans on both RR AND N1kita's . I think they might be witches.

I mean, how else could they possible beat TWO games (combined scores) faster than my average FAIL TIME for one game???

Granted, I'm new at the game, but I think I get it now, and their scores are just nuts.

Question: Do you witches just go as quickly as you can and hope to not screw yourself and finish with a nice score (if you do finish), or are you actually taking the time to think our your decisions in hopes of increasing your chances for finishing the game?

Just because my weekend was all about Potter (bought and finished reading the 7th book and went to see the 5th movie yesterday) doesn't mean I'm a wizard.

My plan for playing is to work on clearing off the top 5 pieces of the center and the outer one or two pieces on each outer edge. After that, it's a balance - I keep scanning the board and ideally am able to pull off all 4 matching pieces back-to-back or as close to that as possible. But as that's not usually possible I just work on getting it down to one level, then it's usually a cake-walk to finish.

OK, that sucks.

(It took me a while to get a screenshot too - this would have been a really good time for me - low 300s).

If it weren't for the addictive and much less evil Jungle swing, I may have a Mahjong problem.

I finally beat it with a reasonable score (nothing like you guys though), so I may have to take a little Mahjong break. Frustrating game, to say the least.

Rob and I are competing to be the Mahjong champ. I'm sure there will be a point where we won't be able to go any lower. I'm hoping I've already hit it, cuz I like being better than Rob.

I think I could rest if I could break the 300 mark. I mean, that's 5 minutes. Surely I can beat this stupid game in under 5 minutes, right???

My Jungle Swing dominance makes me feel a lot better about my Mahjong inadequacy, FWIW.
